There is use for him though: he's a league-average outfielder on a reasonable salary, and isn't standing in anyone's way. His skill set also makes him a perfect 4th OF, and he seems to like Toronto, so he could conceivably have a role on the team for the next few years even if he's more a 1-2 WAR guy. Not every capable MLB talent needs to be jettisoned for the best lotto ticket you can find.
The team would likely be looking to sign a Kevin Pillar in FA this offseason. Why not just keep the one they have? Especially given he likes it here and has a long history with the org?
