  1. At least if Chris Sale is a pumpkin now it's after Boxy traded for him and Boston gave him $150M.
  2. Chris Sale sitting 88-91 in Oakland.
  3. Damn, Rowdy has been great.
  4. Justin Smoak is slower than mid-30s Edwin.
  5. Yup, seems like the obvious play next time the 5th spot comes around. Hard to see them going to SRF again right away.
  6. Saw that. Can't remember the last time a player did that.
  7. Not complaining at Montoyo's decisions. It was time to pull him.
  8. Would have been nice to see Stroman go a bit longer after yesterday's debacle.
  9. Freddy Galvis has taken better ABs than anyone on the team.
  10. I refuse to believe that the Blue Jays will be dominated by Andrew Casher the day after being dominated by David Hess which was the day after being dominated by Matt Moore.
  11. I believe this is just the second multi-year extension given out by this FO, after Smoak's 3-year deal. Nice to get Grichuk locked in.
  12. Grichuk must be banged up?
  13. There's no way Alford, Hanson, and Brito are all on the team.
  14. There isn't room for Brito and Hanson on the 40-man. Someone has to be removed or added to the 60-day IL if both are being added. Edit: Pompey added to the 60-day DL
  15. I've always liked Brito a little bit. He can run, used to be able to defend CF (not sure how he's aged), and has hit a bit in the high minors. HE might be a decent 4th OF.
  16. I find the idea of clearing room for Anthony Alford on April 2nd to be patently ridiculous. If you're the FO it makes sense to save your bosses the cash while picking up a prospect, but nobody is going to frame it like that. Buck and Pat are going to gush over Alford tonight and talk about how room had to be made for him, and then nobody celebrating this will think twice when Jonathan Davis and a bunch of waiver wire trash combine for 500 PA of sub-replacement-level play this season.
  17. TBH, even if they wanted to see Alford up ASAP there were guys with options that could have been used to faciliate that: all of Hernandez, McKinney, and Tellez are something like replacement level and certainly aren't above being sent down for a few weeks. And the bats are actually pretty healthy right now, aside from Pompey and Travis who are both made of glass. This is being sold and largely perceived as a move to make room for an exciting prospect, but that prospect isn't actually very exciting, and Pillar certainly wasn't standing in his way. Really this is about clearing $5M because the team doesn't care about Pillar's two wins in a lost season. IMO it's the opposite of the kind of move fans should be applauding. The team got marginally worse today to save a few bucks in the short term.
  18. I can't find confirmation either way, but it would be a bit surprising if Hanson cleared waivers. I think they'll probably option Urena and keep him on the 25-man.
  19. Law was literally available for free a month ago and no teams claimed him. He's a non-factor. We'll see what happens with Hanson. I agree, this move doesn't make much sense.
  20. Will be interesting to see what the team decides to do with him. Law has already cleared waivers, so he can go to AAA and wait to have his contract selected, but I believe Hanson can still be claimed if Toronto doesn't keep him on the 25-man. I don't see who they'd option to make room though.
  21. Alford is up now. After him we have McGuire, and then literally no other bat on the 40-man. Whatever the opposite of a logjam was, that's what the team had in the OF before doing this. Feels like a move motivated by $ more than anything else.
  22. Meh. Two players who were recently DFA'd and aren't on the 40-man roster, and a s***** pitching prospect. I don't understand the urgency to make this move. There is currently one hitter that's a) healthy, on the 40-man, and c) not on the 25-man: Reese McGuire.
  23. Tatis just hit a bomb
  24. Interested in seeing Merrill Kelly's first start.
