Which ones surprise you? Urena vs. Sogard was a wash, and Norris isn't ready yet.

I know, but that doesn't matter now. A pitcher currently on the 40-man would have to not be there if he had been retained. I wouldn't have really cared if they did prefer Bergen to someone like Biagini or Diaz, but I don't think it's clear enough to really complain about.

Paulino is a few months younger than Bergen and carved up AA as a starter, had success in AAA as a starter, and hasn't looked out of place in the majors. Bergen is a pure reliever with 35 innings at AA. I can't think of a single reason to prefer Bergen.

Came here to post this. This will be applauded by fans/media, but it’s going to do real damage to a team that typically operates on a tight budget. I’d be pissed if Shatkins carried Vlad to start the season.

I think Pannone probably still does make it maybe? Confirmed: Giles Mayza Biagini Hudson Gaviglio Maybe Luciano, maybe Adam, and probably Norris. We're unlikely to see a 4-man bench, so all three of those guys would have to make it for Pannone to get optioned.

I like the new economic climate of MLB. With players not getting outrageous FA deals, it seems like they're more likely to re-up with their own teams, and IMO that's better for everyone, and certainly for the fans. It's not like league average players getting 80M dollar contracts that ran until they were 35 is necessarily the best version of MLB. If the new reality is mega-deals for star players, reasonable short-term deals for good players, and more money to young players (still has to happen), baseball is probably a lot better off.

Yeah, that was my first thought. MLB just took hundreds of thousands of dollars from the two of them to punish him for his behaviour towards her, which she insists isn't even problematic.

Giles Mayza Biagini Hudson Norris (if healthy) Luciano (if he's not returned to KC or acquired from them in a trade) And then whichever two of Gaviglio/Pannone/Thornton aren't in the rotation. I suspect we'll grow to hate this bullpen by mid-April.
