  1. Fair. There actually have been a decent number of good new posters lately.
  2. I mean, he was either being disingenuous, or vociferously defending a position while not actually knowing the details of what he was talking about. Either situation makes his input s***** for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with the meme of this forum being in constant unanimous agreement and rejecting anyone with different ideas.
  3. Spanky, did you start Edwin Jackson today?
  4. Read my post above. It has nothing to do with baseball takes. The idea that everyone here agrees about baseball is f***ing absurd.
  5. I'm not even talking about bad baseball takes. I'm talking about stupid disingenuous s*** like posting about how metafour prefers Merryweather to Flaherty and Bader because he defended the Donaldson trade. Someone like that is a s***** poster, and it has nothing to do with any kind of hive mind or old boys club.
  6. Read through mikepelfrey's posts. Now, on a forum where people bicker incessantly, do you think people might take an issue with him for having a different opinion, or for being a f***ing moron?
  7. Identifying yourself with Jays gear, or too ashamed?
  8. I think the Jays subreddit and facebook pages might be more up your alley.
  9. Pretending that metafour said he prefers Merryweather to Flaherty and Bader makes you sound stupid instead of having whatever effect you’re intending.
  10. It's probably time to spend a bit of money in the offseason. And they'll have a boatload of prospects to trade for an arm. If they trade for one arm, and sign a couple others they could roster a pretty good rotation. Free agents this offseason: Bumgarner, Cole, Gibson, Hill, Porcello, Ryu, Strasburg, Keuchel, Wheeler, Wood. Signing/Trade Signing/Trade Shoemaker Thornton Pearson Borucki/Murphy/SRF/Gaviglio Even if the team trades Stroman, the rotation only has to be a problem if the team tucks dick and acts like a mickey mouse organization this offseason.
  11. He denied choking her and was never charged because there was no evidence of physical abuse. And no, I don’t consider firing a gun alone in a garage to be beating someone.

Is Dubas more likely to package him up with a pick, or take another bad contract back?
  13. We’ve seen comparable arms to Giles moves for elite hitting prospects. I’d be disappointed to have to settle for an arm when the market suggests that top-20 bats should be in play. I get that the rotation is a huge need, but I’d rather address it another way.
  14. “The Blue Jays are widely expected to field offers for both Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez, and The Athletic’s Jayson Stark even wrote today that Toronto has “signaled they could be aggressive” in trying to move both. For a team in their position, there’s little reason to hang onto the duo beyond the 2019 season and plenty of reason to explore the market earlier rather than later. The Jays aren’t contending this season, both starters are healthy, and it’s unlikely that an additional month is going to dramatically alter a rival team’s evaluation of the righties.” I don’t care about Sanchez, but Stro (and Giles, though he’s not mentioned here) are critically important decisions for Shatkins. Both trades and extensions should be on the table, and if he goes the trade route it has to be elite offensive talent brought back.
  15. Martin worked out very well. There have been a few other big FA signing that have well. Off the top of my head. Scherzer, Greinke, JDM, Lester, Zobrist, Encarnacion, Cruz, Turner. As we displayed with Martin, the ability to dip into the FA market for a major piece is an ability we have that some AL rivals don't: we have the financial flexibility to go out an get an impact player that teams like Minnesota TB, and Oakland can't. You just have to make sure you're committing to the right player. If Rogers will once again allow a top-10 payroll, I really hope Shatkins leverages that into serious bids for top FA talent when the time is right.
  16. That’s all great, but Chapman didn’t beat up his girlfriend.
  17. I'll give you MiLB 16 for Cruz.
  18. It's a really slow day.
  19. Well they replaced a guy who beat up his child's mother with an equally good pitcher who doesn't assault women. So that's pretty terrific.
  20. Someone put this in their signature.

I've been wanting to get into basketball again, and would probably participate in a dynasty league if you'd have me, as long as there were no farms/shallow farms.
  22. 1. Yes 2. No I’m not sure of the relevance of either question though.
  23. The Jays payroll in 2017 was over 170M. It would have been over 200M with Price. He started 11-games and was worth 1-2 wins. Toronto won 76 games. It would have taken a payroll of like 300M to get the 2017 or 2018 teams to the playoffs, and David Price would have barely moved the needle.
  24. Since the war over McHugh and Gonzales, McHugh hasn’t pitched due to a sore elbow and Gonzales is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 5.55 xFIP.
