  1. Who gives a s*** what he’s fine with? Teams are supposed to keep giving 1-2 win player everyday ABs because it will upset him if he gets his playing time reduced? Is it just Galvis that should dictate his own playing time, or should that luxury be afforded to everyone?
  2. Anyone who misuses ellipses to that extent is insane beyond recovery.
  3. You actually read that lol
  4. Oh I agree. If it's up to me Drury is non-tendered in the offseason, McKinney and Tellez are optioned and serve as AAA injury backup, and Urena is DFA'd.
  5. Gurriel should never wear an infielder's glove again. He played some of the worst 2B I've ever seen in the majors, and actually looks pretty good in the OF. Don't mess with a good thing.
  6. Dude has a career AAA wRC+ of like 65 over 600 PA, and projects at under 60 in the majors. He's not an MLB player.
  7. The current 2019 infield, not including C or 1B, looks something like: 2B - Biggio 3B - Guerrero SS - Bichette 2B/3B - Drury SS/2B - Urena I'm pretty sure this move was made with an eye to the fact that Drury and Urena are both a) controllable and out of options next season. If the FO saw value in an external backup infielder, it's hard to imagine a better fit than the guy they just gave away for nothing.
  8. I hate s*** like this. He’s a 1-2 win player making 5M a year. If the team says he’s now a utility player who will get 300-400 PA covering three infield spots, then that’s what he’ll do and he’d damn well better not complain. The idea that Freddy f***ing Galvis is above a utility role is absurd.
  9. I don’t get this. Galvis was a perfect Util guy to keep around next year. He can backup Vlad at 3B, Biggio at 2B, and Bichette at SS. That’s a very nice bench piece for 5.5M, and he probably still would have gotten 400+ PA. Now we’ll get to see more Richard Urena or some other trash bag.
  10. I believe Orgfiller should have Boxy's 6th rounder for our Kendrick trade.
  11. I'm upset that you rebuffed my advances on him early in the season.
  12. There was a shocking lack of SP available. Wade Miley and Steven Matz were pretty much it.
  13. That was definitely the worst trade deadline in league history.
  14. P2F 6.5 games back of Hurl for 8th, with only Jim between them. Last 3 weeks should be interesting.
  15. Interested in buying a starter, maybe a reliever too if anyone is around.
  16. The Rays just pulled Yarbrough with nobody on base, one out away from a complete game shutout. He was at 99 pitches. The Rays wonder why they have no fans.
  17. So Wade Miley is the only SP on the market?
  18. Anyone actually know when the deadline is? Yahoo just says August 11th.
  19. Jim, you got real lucky that JD Davis didn’t accrue any stats for you.
  20. Yup. If the team had money burning a hole in its pocket that major free agents just wouldn't take, Yu Darvish would have been a Blue Jay. If they had been consistently rebuffed by players who didn't want to come here, they would have jumped at the opportunity to throw all that money at a guy who was forced by the system to go to the highest bidder for his services. But they didn't sign Darvish for the same reason that they haven't signed any other top-tier FAs: they've had no interest in spending major money on a big-time player.
  21. Have there? I remember the jays being rebuffed by Ervin Santana and Gil Meche. Nothing else comes to mind.
  22. I don’t think we’ve actually tried to sign major free agents. We’ve been a big market team acting like a mid- (and often small) market team, and I think to at least some extent blaming it on free agents considering Toronto to be MLB’s Siberia. With the luxury tax effectively acting like a hard cap for most teams, there’s an opportunity for a market like Toronto to get in on the top guys without competing against teams like the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox etc... we just saw San Diego sign a guy who would have been swallowed up by NY or LA back when the tax had less teeth. I think the limiting factor here is that Toronto won’t offer a major FA 200M, much more so than major FAs not being willing to come to Toronto except for a massive overpayment.
  23. This is likely ********. Toronto is a world class city and there's no reason to believe that players wouldn't come here except in the case of a massive premium being paid. We haven't signed major free agents because we haven't tried to sign major free agents. It might not happen this offseason, coming off a 90-100 loss year, but there's no reason to think that a competitive Toronto team would be considered an undesirable destination by free agents.
