  1. 1: defensible 2: outrageous 3: pick of the draft
  2. Hitting the eggnog hard and ripe to be taken advantage of via trade. Anyone but TCA should take advantage.
  3. I think there's certainly more incentive to shore up the roster. It probably makes them more likely to hold on Giles. It should also make them take a harder look at bullpen upgrades like Stammen, Betances, and McHugh. Maybe a legit bench piece or two.
  4. There isn't really any evidence that Toronto has to drastically overpay to attract FA talent, and this signing will help crush that narrative. Someone was on here the other day talking about how market value on Ryu was probably 4/80 so Toronto would have to go to like 5/105 to get him. I don't doubt that 4/80 was the biggest offer, but I don't think it exceeds the runner up by more than your typical FA signing.
  5. Jays are at 38 on the 40-man and none of Yamaguchi, Shaw, and Ryu have been made official. Is this finally Urena's time?
  6. Martin and Burnett
  7. The 40-man is full now, and the most obvious dead weight is the out of options bench players (Urena, Valera, and to a lesser extent Alford). I’d like to see the acquisition of MLB caliber players that push these guys out. A legit super utility guy who can play short and another MLB OF would fit very well. Brock Holt would be a nice addition.
  8. Holy f***. Atkins and crew are having a very good offseason all of a sudden.
  9. I like this. And he’s arb-eligible after the season.
  10. No link so you’ll have to trust me.
  11. I’d give something for Bundy. Not much, but something.
  12. I'm bored at work and itching to make a deal. Please motorboat me with trade offers.
  13. I'm sorry, but how the hell do you guys know who Kyle Keller is?
  14. I thought the commenter believed that the narrative the author actually wanted to find was that bad teams aren't spending enough, given FG tends to always beat that drum. You might be right though.
  15. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/which-types-of-teams-are-signing-free-agents/#comments The first comment in response to this bad article is savage: "Ben, more great work. I love the way you manipulated statistics in search of narrative support- a real lesson for all of us. Sometimes the data are what the data are…"
  16. First trade in league history yesterday I think?
  17. It's the most Ross Atkins thing ever to put on a full court press to lock up Tanner Roark.
  18. We're talking 1/10 for Betances vs. like 3/40 for Giles + the opportunity cost of not trading him. They're not similar investments. And there's no reason to think he won't pitch in 2020.
  19. lol at Hurl's team abbreviation in Fantrax: JEW
  20. It’s reset to the reverse order of last years standings once the waiver draft is finished.
  21. The Angels don't even have a bad rotation anymore if Ohtani can stay healthy. Heaney, Bundy, Teheran, and Canning are all solid average pitchers, and there's upside beyond that. And guys like Pena, Barria and Suarez are all interesting depth guys. - cut Pujols - sign a catcher to partner with Stassi - find 2-win options at 1B and RF - add a couple value bullpen arms - win 90 games
  22. Gio Gonzalez to CWS. Another one in the "thank god its not us" bin.
  23. Yeah, it's like an 81-82 win team that costs like 110M with no real long term commitments but Ryu and a still loaded farm. Could make other additions to push it to 84-85 wins.
