1 year 4M guarantee with a 1M buyout on a 5.5M team option. Seems like the team probably would have been cool with those terms given the dearth of guys left on the FA market at 1B. Market is starting to get pretty thin. Thames is probably the best of the bunch. Then its crusty near-replacement vets like Moreland and Cron. Maybe a flier on Greg Bird?

It’s still not obvious to me that Ross Atkins is the guy you want trying to make major deals happen, but I have a hard time reconciling that doubt with my belief that Mark Shapiro is one of the most competent executives in the game.

I do sympathize, because everyone was responsible for ensuring that their roster was moved over properly and you're the only new owner and thus didn't have access to yahoo to verify that things were right. But like P2F said, the cut down won't be for another two months, so there's a lot of time to shape the end of your roster.

I wasn't very precise in the message you quoted. You need to have 18-22 players on your MLB roster, and the remainder on your farm (as long as they're under the promotion thresholds (the thresholds have been increased to 1000 PA and 50 (GS + half of relief appearances). The flags don't matter, aside from preventing you from moving non-flagged guys to your farm.

I just add Mike Fiers, Marcell Ozuna, and Diego Castillo to their proper teams from the FA list. From what I can tell, nobody else was missed in the transfer to Fantrax.

They don't even have a surplus of catching. Jansen and McGuire project as a decent starter and good backup, and nobody else is close.

I don't think anyone actually expects the team to structure a contract that way. It's just something they could do if they were actually interested in signing him.

I don't think the team would prefer a frontloaded contract, but Ryu certainly would and the team is in a position to make that concession if it helps give them an edge.
