Sugano would be a huge signing. He doesn't profile that differently from guys like Tanaka, Maeda, and Iwakuka, and they all are/were reliable rotation cogs after coming over.

A few items: 1. Frenchsoup's tenure as Hurl's co-owner has come to an end. Hurl is regaining full control of his team, and his roster moves will be reversed. 2. Rosters expand to 26 tomorrow, and all unowned players will be placed on waivers. 3. I will now continue getting very drunk, and will be soliciting trade offers. Happy New Years

I know he was great in 2020, but his xWOBA was 0.331, well below his 0.366 wOBA. I see a player who's going to be about league average on a very team friendly contract. If you see a 3-4 win player there, than yeah, he carries huge value.

People are only suggesting Gurriel as a trade chip because he has value, but also has a replaceable skill set. Above-average but not elite offense, average baserunning, and average LF defense. Nice player, but someone you're probably not going to miss a whole lot if you have a chance to move him as the major piece for an elite player.

I wonder if it is more that they saw red flags in the player’s insistence on an MLB guarantee and it made them second guess their potential investment. If Kim is bad enough that he’s an albatross on the MLB roster, you’re probably talking about the investment being a sunk cost anyway.

I don't understand this level of risk aversion. If you're willing to commit 5/40 or whatever to this guy, I can't see why a guaranteed roster spot is a bridge too far.

They're over the cap floor before this, but I'm guessing they think this will help them stay over if they move salary out during the season. On the other hand, Tierney is the only remotely interesting player likely to move in a deadline deal, so Dorian must actually a) think Stepan is good, and it matters that Stepan is good. I hate this f***ing team.
