  1. A few things: 1. Big thanks to spanky for setting the draft order. Everything looks fine to me. I've changed the first 7 picks in the first round to reflect the draft lottery that Jim ran earlier in the offseason, and everything else is in reverse order of RS finish. TCA Ling34 Hurl (Connor) KingFiller (Abomination) Cool Beans 2. Please make sure you have the picks you're supposed to have. 3. Recall that international signings who sign before the start of the draft will be in the NPD (Kim, Sugano etc...). If any such players sign after the start of the draft, they'll be handled via waivers. 4. The draft is tentatively scheduled to begin on March 6th to allow for the J2 signings to play out. 6. On January 1st all unowned players will be waived, and MLB rosters will be set to 26.
  2. Took Hachimura
  3. Yeah. Weird for a terrible team with a bad farm to move real prospects for an unproven 1B. They must feel pretty good about his chances to become a very good hitter.
  4. Longenhagen's take on the guys the Rays got for Nate Lowe: "To give you some context, Hernandez (50 FV), who turns 21 next week, is the type of college-aged hitting prospect who I’d have evaluated similar to Orioles 2020 first-rounder Heston Kjerstad, a college bat worthy of a top-ten pick in a draft. The 20-year-old Basabe (40+ FV) is a high-variance, late-second-round sort of prospect, and Ovalles (35+ FV) is the kind of player who’d get a mid-six-figure deal on day three of the draft, though it’s likely not all teams think of him that way."
  5. No other agent is doing anything like what Luba is doing right now. Her and Bauer are a perfect match for each other, and it's good for baseball.
  6. Outside of Stroman accepting his QO, the market hasn't really been paying deflated salaries early on. I guess Trevor May's contact seems pretty team-friendly?
  7. Were the Mets just bidding against themselves? I don't remember seeing any other team linked to McCann.
  8. It will be March, but not sure on the date yet. Can the Fantrax draft room handle MiLB players and international free agents? This BORED draft will be the first LoD-style NPD.
  9. Excellent
  10. It's very hard to see the team not adding multiple very exciting players this offseason.
  11. Took Powell. Quadruple Doink is up
  12. Took Rose. Regular Season Coast is up, whoever that is.
  13. My understanding is that Hernandez probably isn't a catcher long term, but could hit enough to play at 1B.
  14. Is Yao Ming still active?
  15. Doesn't necessarily need to be a 1B for Smyly - could be an OF or good 2022 pick.
  16. To whatever extent I had a plan going into this, ending up with Edmonton's goaltending tandem suggests that I've failed miserably.
  17. I think I'd rather have Bauer. Elite pitchers tend to stay elite until they break, and no MLB pitcher is more into biomechanics than Bauer. Teams have done pretty well with mega-contracts for aces over the last 10-15 years, and I think Bauer will continue that trend. I also just plain prefer the aesthetics of a frontline starter more than a 4-5 win position player, as a fan. And Bauer the person is super likeable and engaging.
  18. "This team is not very likely to win 83 to 85 games. Instead, they’ll probably win 75 or 90. If it doesn’t work, they’ll be sellers at the deadline and go young in the second half. " Come on, Cameron
  19. Seconded.
  20. This is a good point. I don't know why, but I always perceive the Mariners as being respectable even though they often aren't. They haven't had consecutive 0.500 seasons since 2002 and 2003!
  21. Their ownership and old FO have been so bad that it will take awhile for them to climb out of loser territory. That's a lot of stink to wash off.
  22. Angels, Rockies, Orioles, Pirates for sure. Reds? Marlins? Mets seem have been saved by Steve Cohen.
  23. I didn't say I didn't like it.
