    Nobody should care about losing Hoglund for Chapman. Not only is he a pitcher, he's a pitcher with zero pro innings who's recovering from TJS.

    I'm surprised people seem lukewarm on this. Chapman probably helps the team as much as Freeman does. He might be a half win worse in a vacuum, but he actually plays the team's biggest position of need, doesn't force messy solutions like Vlad to 3B, and won't cost 180M. And he's really, really fun to watch.

    I think they believe Voit's knee is toast. No other reason to spend 32M or whatever on Rizzo with Stanton clogging up the DH spot.

    You're probably right. But I never said they would. I said that's what likely would have to happen for it to be palatable for Toronto.

    But for real, if Votto was a FA this year I don't think he does better than 2/30. Maybe 2/35 at the absolute high end?

    We're talking about Cincinnati. This is literally what they're in the business of doing.

    Votto is still owed 57M (25+25+7 buyout). Cincinnati would probably have to eat like 25M and accept nothing but a fringe prospect to make it palatable for Toronto.

    I'm expecting LA. If the Dodgers are interested, how could you not want to play there? Play in a world class city, hit in the middle of a stacked lineup, and pad the HoF resume by making the playoffs every year. I guess the big question is whether they're comfortable with Muncy spending most of his time at 2B/DH.

    Votto is weird. He maintained all of his skills at 32 and 33, then his power fell off a cliff at 34,35, and 36. Then at 37 he decided to sell out a bit for power and became elite again.

    I just looked at the Steamer projection leaderboards to rosterbate over Freeman and Vladdy hitting B2B (they're 2nd and 12th by projected wRC+ btw), and I noticed that Seiya Suzuki is projected for a 140 wRC+. That has to be a mistake, right?

    So since the initial tweet Baerga has walked it back and the Jays are a rumoured finalist on Schwarber. Freeman Will be a Ray or Dodger tomorrow.
