  1. Ugh, I f***ing hate the "USA" chant. Grinds my gears so much.
  2. Watching King Felix home starts has become my favourite thing in baseball. Love the energy of the King's court.
  3. Threw a ball into LF trying to make an out.
  4. Rays bunting all over the place on Colby Lewis, lol.
  5. Anybody want Danny Farquhar for a pick?
  6. Holy f*** it's good to have Billy Butler back. That's an important part of my offense.
  7. Yeah, but my involvement is such that I accept partial credit for success and accept no responsibility for failure.
  8. Oh my god I claimed Trevor Cahill last night.
  9. Silver lining: with every implosion, a multi-year Janssen extension is increasingly less likely.
  10. 11-1. You fell victim to the 3-4 am yahoo refresh clusterf***. Though I have to admit, getting drunk and trash talking the best team in the league because I'm winning on Friday isn't one of my more responsible decisions.
  11. Surely a non-playoff BBDL team is not chirping the third place DDL team. That would be silly.
  12. Unpossible Dinger is being properly acquainted with my pitching staff.
  13. 13 - 1 on dinger entering the weekend. I'm rock hard right now.
  14. The team options are all kinda interesting: Morrow 10 M option and 1M buyout Lind 7.5 M option and 1 M buyout Happ 6.7 M option 0.2 M buyout McGowan 4 M option 0.5 buyout Thole (I don't even know the terms) Lind will be back. Morrow probably won't. I could see the team going either way on the other three. Personally, the only one I'd pick up is Lind assuming a 135-140 payroll.
  15. That's a pretty ugly quote. I wonder how many GMs feel the same way reflecting back on a tenure after being canned? It's easy to see how things can spiral quickly out of control once a few things go wrong, and you would feel like you're reacting to things as they happen instead of setting pieces in place for a long-term plan.
  16. They could go to $145 million and it would still be very difficult to field a team as good as the one on pace to win 85 games this year.
  17. Cliffs on Gord Ash? I was too young to pay attention.
  18. “When I hear last week that we didn’t make decisions because we didn’t have the money or there was a hockey contract, it’s just flat out wrong,” he explained. “It’s patently false. We’ve got what we need to do. If there wasn’t a trade that was made, it was because Alex (Anthopoulos) and the baseball people didn’t think they wanted to part with the players for what they’d get back.” Does he have any idea who Brandon McCarthy is? Chase Headley? Martin Prado?
  19. The whole thing is just so ridiculous. There is no payroll space. That much is obvious given that they haven't added a player with a salary exceeding $3 million since the end of last season. There isn't a problem with that - a $135 million payroll commitment from Rogers is more than enough to win if you have a decent FO. They just sound incredibly stupid spouting off about how "the flexibility is there". If the flexibility is there, f***ing use it to improve the team that's tied for a wild card spot. Either the FO is lying about payroll flexibility, or they've been trying fruitlessly to spend some cash for the last 10 months and are just ineffective beyond all understanding. Either way, Beeston and AA are embarrassing themselves.
  20. Couldn't add salary at the deadline, but the payroll space is there if they ask. The loathsome collection of clowns running this team are impossible to cheer for.
  21. Nice. It's good to see him just hitting fly balls again. For obvious reasons, that man is not going to last long as a singles-hitting DH. If it keeps up it will be interesting to hear what went wrong mechanically that had to be fixed.
  22. So I don't know what the f*** was/is wrong with Billy Butler, but maybe he's coming out of it? FB% and ISO by month: April = 21.3, 0.031 May = 24.1, 0.087 June = 29.3, 0.125 July = 30.6, 0.140 August = 35.3, 0.250 Since the start of June = 30.4 FB%, 0.144 ISO, 116 wRC+ Career = 31.8 FB%, 0.155 ISO, 118 wRC+ Maybe Country Breakfast has once again figured out how to hit the ball in the air kinda hard?
