I think that's only if runs are also tied? The team that won the games between the teams tied shall be given the higher position. If three or more teams are tied and one of those teams won its games against all other teams it is tied with, then it will be placed in the higher spot. Similarly, if one of those tied teams lost its games against all other teams it is tied with, then it will be placed in the lowest spot. The tied teams shall be ranked in the standings according to the lowest quotient of fewest runs allowed divided by the number of defensive outs recorded in the games in that round between the teams tied. So USA beat Mexico 5-3 and is down 8-1 to Italy. On track to be 1-1 with 11 RA Mexico lost 5-3 to USA Italy Up 8-1 on USA So as things currently stand, if Mexico beats Italy and gives up fewer than 6 runs while scoring fewer than 10, USA would be out?

Wait, you're right. All 3 teams at 3-1 would be 1-1 vs each other. USA currently at 17 runs against. Mexico 7. Italy 4. Wouldn't Mexico just have to beat Italy and give up less than 10 runs?

Didn't get to watch the game and it sounds like the defense was shoddy but it sucks that we have to rely on someone like James Paxton in high leverage spots. We don't have any guys in the upper minors with big stuff who would be better options?

Just looked it up and you're right. Last pitched in Indy ball in 2019 and just casually shows up every 3 years to pitch in the WBC.
