  1. Yup. People forget that at the end of the day it's a business and owners don't want to lose millions of dollars in crippling attendance and ratings.
  2. Doesn't really matter who.
  3. No one doubts his potential, the likelihood of ever reaching it however seem dim at best. Maybe he turns a corner, but even if he does he probably still has control problems and doesn't amount to much more than a mid rotation arm that everyone keeps saying 'what if'.
  4. Depends on the player and the situation. If AA can get a guy who helps this team this year and next and then results in a pick at the end, it could very well be worth it depending on the price tag of prospects. Perhaps a salary dump of a good player. Or the alternative is AA acquires a longer term option. Im not talking about guys like Price or Shark that will cripple the system. If no such option exists then hold onto the prospects and look to deal in the winter when alternative options may become available. The key is not to rely on hoarding prospects as a viable strategy, nor trading all of them away. A balance needs to be made, otherwise this team will never make a sustained run at contention.
  5. Number fives are a dime a dozen. We need frontline starters. We could have a solid trio as soon as next season with Hutch, Stroman and Norris. We have guys like Nolin who could fill the number 5 slot. If we are going to be trading anyone, I'd rather move Sanchez who still seems to have good value, yet has some of the worst control in the system. Banking on guys like Sanchez could be more detrimental to the organization than trading him away. Top prospects shouldn't be thought of as guys who 'at worst' may be our number 5. We should be saying at worst he will be a mid rotation guy and I'm not sure many are comfortable doing so. To me that sounds like a guy who may be a good sell high option.
  6. There are so many more who failed with that kind of walk rate.
  7. Do nothing. Stroman and Hutch have been good and with Nolin, Norris, and Sanchez all likely pushing for rotation spots next season, we could have a good young and cheap rotation. Buehrle and Dickey will be in their final years and would help bridge the transition.
  8. I highly doubt that. I could maybe see him taking a discount to stay in Toronto, but of he leaves as a FA I'm sure someone will offer him 15 per.
  9. Or people who create multiple accounts and stir s*** up. As for Spanky he has been banned before and received infractions.
  10. No way he goes for that. He would easily get 15M+ per year on the open market. I'm guessing 4/60 with two team options.
  11. He will surely want 4 years minimum I think and will likely press for a 5 year deal in negotiations. I bet Bautista tries to use his influence on AA to keep Melky around. As much as I hate players who meddle in GM affairs, I'm really hoping AA brings back Melky and either trades Rasmus(highly doubtful) or gives him a QO and let's him walk.
  12. Do to get me wrong, I think Sanchez has great potential, I just think it's more likely he never lives up to his billing and ends up a backend guy who scrapes a career through the majors on GM's who keep saying 'what if'. That walk rate will spell disaster if he can't get it under control and who really thinks it will improve once he gets to the majors? Sure it's happened before, but it's rare.
  13. Smells like trade bait to me.
  14. The problem is also EE playing 1B. He is terrible at picking the ball out of the dirt. An average defender picks that ball. AA really needs to move Reyes to 2B this winter and address SS. Send Lawrie back to 3B.
  15. Reyes is no longer a MLB calibre SS, but the organization is gong to let him stick there because of his contract.
  16. Yeah let's empty the farm instead. I'd rather patch things up by trading some mid tier prospects than to unload the farm for 1.5 years of control and still likely never sniff the playoffs.
  17. This hindsight s*** is f***ing stupid. What happened is done with. Look forward and learn from the past.
  18. Why not target Hammel? What would he cost?
  19. Trade Sanchez while he still has good value. Another year of horrid walk rates and his value will plummet.
  20. f*** Keith Law. Does he even watch the games?
  21. She might be an upgrade on Dickey. AA sign her.
  22. I hope not. Hate to lose another poster due to TJS.
  23. TJS on the horizon? Lol
