    Starting a new team today and you can poach any player you want (so age matters) I'd be hard pressed to pick between Trout, Altuve, Stanton, Harper, Machado and Lindor ... but I probably still go with Trout LOL

    Jose Altuve is a f'n beast Is he the second best player in baseball after Trout? And is it actually close/debateable now?? He has maybe the most team-friendly contract in all of baseball 2014 (age 24) $1,500,000 - 5.1 WAR 2015 (age 25) $2,500,000 - 4.6 WAR 2016 (age 26) $3,500,000 - 6.8 WAR 2017 (age 27) $4,500,000 - 7.5 WAR 2018 (age 28) $6,000,000 2019 (age 29) $6,500,000 He's gotten better every year since 2015... don't even know what his ceiling is now. If you're the Astros do you do a mutually beneficial solid and beef up those last 2 contract years in exchange for buying out 2-3 more years starting in 2020? It seems like something you could pull off and have both sides be happy

    Yankees and Red Sox are both f***ed Both down 1-0 in a 5 game series and have to face Keuchel and Kluber with mid rotation starters in game 2

    Depends who they're replacing too Bautista was below replacement level so even a 2-3 war season is a bigger upgrade from 2016 in RF than you'd first think if you were replacing a 1 WAR player

    I hope the front office strikes early again this year too I like that Land an impact player you want right away while the big spenders play cat and mouse for months with the small number of big fish Alex Cob would be an ideal target for this approach. I bet he doesn't want to wait and wait and wait until the market sees Darvish and Tanaka landed before anyone will get serious in talks with him. This seems to happen to some guys like him every year.

    Having Sanchez back and finding an above average corner OF in Hernadez would be huge

    No way do I trust that Smoak can do that again (although I HOPE he can) and Morales is now probably just a very slow, league average hitter We need a solid addition to the lineup

    Realistically I think they should absolutely target and be willing to spend big on one of either Otani or Martinez I'd pass on Tanaka and Darvish on the $$$ and years that they're likely to get
