  1. Yes And the Angels should sign him if he'll take that
  2. Are they really after a big money "closer"? It seems like they might be. Jeffress walks way too many and has been as up and down as relievers get since he pitched for the Jays many years ago
  3. Either way if you can get Springer to sign now you just do it. If we end up with 2 guys capable of playing above average MLB caliber CF at some point then that's great. You worry about that "problem" later Obviously Shapiro and Atkins agree or they wouldn't be hard after Springer like they are.
  4. Possible Austin Martin scenarios if you sign Springer now 1. Martin busts (I certainly hope not) 2. They like Martin better at SS and move him there 3. Martin comes up and plays CF well just as Springer is ready to move to RF due to decline in speed/range 4. Martin progresses rapidly, both he and Springer are awesome CF options in 2 years and you trade one of them No need to worry about where Martin will play at this point
  5. Division is a joke too
  6. Telling Vlad he's a first baseman and getting Didi for 3B would be pretty impactful too
  7. They obviously prefer Kluber 1/11 over Tanaka 3/45 or something like that Unless they plan to keep Tanaka too but I doubt it
  8. True. And also breeds resentment. You have to balance those things I suppose. Also remind me... Why is Ohtani treated like regular drafted MLB players VS the posted players on free agent type contracts like Darvish and Yamaguchi. Because of the age at which he came over?
  9. So the Angels reached deals with their other 5 players but saw fit to go to war with Ohtani over a few hundred thousand dollars?
  10. Wow Only 13 arbitration eligible players DIDN'T sign deals before the deadline There are the ones remaining and the numbers filed Correa: ask $12.75M, offer $9.75M Swanson: $6.7M-$6M Buehler: $4.15M-$3.3M Happ: $4.1M-$3.25M Flaherty: $3.9M-$3.3M Solano: $3.9M-$3.25M Ohtani: $3.3M-$2.5M Yarbro: $3.1M-$2.3M Soroka: $2.8M-$2.1M Davis: $2.475M-$2.1M Santander: $2.475M-$2.1M Choi: $2.45M-$1.85M Barnes: $2M-$1.5M
  11. Yeah but I want both fit Vlad Jr and a new center fielder
  12. Goddamn Yankees
  13. The Yankees are finalizing a contract with free-agent right-hander Corey Kluber, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com.
  14. Not anymore I'm starting to think he's our only big possible get Overpay for him or Bauer and try to find deals at other spots
  15. Mookie Betts level contract coming his way...
  16. Mets and Lindor 22.3M Ouch Plus Conforto 12.25 What's their payroll at now?
  17. 0/10 would not bang
  18. Dodgers and Cody Bellinger agree at 16.1M. Pretty good for a 25 year old super 2 arb-2 player. They should get an extension done. He's going to get super expensive anyway with two more years of arbitration.
  19. I'd rather do Springer, one but not both of those starters and either trade for Bryant or sign Didi for 3B
  20. Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray Source: Blue Jays, Teoscar Hernandez settle at $4,325,000, avoiding arbitration.
  21. Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray Source: Blue Jays, Ross Stripling settle at $3 million, avoiding arbitration.
  22. What, like 5/100? Would that have been enough to pry him away?
  23. Only 15M AAV If that's true Yankees are clearly trying to keep payroll down by extending the contract to more years than you would have expected Prob keeps their payroll low enough to re sign Tanaka or get Paxton or Kluber
  24. The first free agent contract I wish the Jays could have signed. But again I suspect he was going back to the Yankees no matter what.
