  1. The truth is this: AA is too committed to this season to NOT add a starter at the deadline He will add somebody. (Hopefully someone who costs more $ than prospects) This off season after guys are back he may have an excess of starters and can deal for prospects and draft picks
  2. Can't afford not to He gets JJ's $ for 2014 and we get a draft pick We get people back off the DL
  3. They acknowledge they rushed him last time and won't do it again - bluejays.com: Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie is going to be afforded all the time he needs in the rehab of his sprained left ankle. Lawrie was rushed to the Major Leagues in April before he was ready, and as a result, he never really found the timing he needed at the plate. "We acknowledged it [that we rushed him] at the time," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "We had a need for his glove at the time. "Ideally we would have given him more time. ... We just decided to try to have him work through his timing here, but at least we knew defensively he was going to help. And he did, but the bat obviously didn't come along." Lawrie hit .209 with a .268 on-base percentage, five home runs, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored in 37 games before his injury in late May sidelined him.
  4. Or, just a bullpen game if the starters give some innings the next few days
  5. Gibby hopes Wang stays in the organization. - MLB.com: The final blow came when Wang recorded just five outs while surrendering six runs on eight hits in the Blue Jays' 7-6 loss to the Tigers in front of 27,189 fans. "He competes, he's a real pro, and we like having him around," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "We hope he chooses to stay and pitch for us down there in Triple-A, with a shot to come back. He can choose to be a free agent if he wishes, but I'd love to have him around -- he's a true pro."
  6. We maybe should have just decided exactly that - bullpen game on Sunday. There are many days off coming up and we could just use a 4 man rotation *IF* they give us good length outings. Is that optimal? No, but the bullpen is awesome and it's probably better than using Redmond or Romero for 1-2 starts.
  7. @Ken_Rosenthal: Nolasco deal would have luxury-tax implications for #Dodgers, #Padres no longer “in,” deal w #Rockies was possible: http://t.co/yRdtZhxQOh
  8. "Here’s my question: Why are the Marlins so hung up on saving money? Their $36.3 million Opening Day payroll was the second-lowest in the majors. They easily will exceed that amount, and perhaps more than double it, in revenue sharing and national TV money." - You just can't respect the Marlins...
  9. Rangers, Dodgers, Rockies In "Heavy Pursuit" Of Nolasco By Steve Adams [July 2, 2013 at 9:42pm CST] 9:42pm: The Rangers, Dodgers and Rockies "are in heavy pursuit" of Nolasco, two executives tell ESPN's Jayson Stark. The Marlins are narrowing their focus to getting a deal done quickly, because the team would like to have the returning Henderson Alvarez make tomorrow's start instead of Nolasco. The Marlins are seeking a pair of prospects in return for Nolasco. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports adds that the Marlins are looking for prospects as opposed to a return like the Cubs received from the Orioles earlier today when they acquired Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop for Scott Feldman. Rosenthal opines that there is no sense in the Marlins' insistance that the acquiring team absorb the remaining $5.7MM on Nolasco's deal. The Marlins entered the season with a $36.3MM payroll -- the second lowest in baseball -- and will easily receive more than that figure in revenue sharing and national TV money.
  10. Miggy so far this year, 1 game past the mid point: .368/.458/.678 OPS:1.136 26 HR 85 RBI FFS...
  11. http://cdn.fangraphs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/miggy_composite.gif Cabrera also thinks we should have kept Wang in the rotation. Hahahaha. Sigh
  12. Yep. AL East is the big boy division, as much now as ever. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN Run differential, by division: 1. AL East 144, 2. NL Central 117, 3. AL Central 17, 4. NL West -86, 5. AL West -99, 6. NL East -113
  13. Oh wait, it's the Astros. Does it count???
  14. This ain't good for us. MLB.com: - Price shows little rust in return from injury Backed by Jennings, Rays starter K's 10 in first outing since May 15 By Glenn Sattell / Special to MLB.com | 7/2/2013 11:12 PM ET HOUSTON -- David Price returned to the mound in Cy Young form on Tuesday, and Desmond Jennings had three hits, including a homer, drove in four runs and scored another as the Rays won for the seventh consecutive time at Minute Maid Park. Price (2-4) was clocked at 96 mph on his fastball after missing 44 games with a left triceps strain and limited the Astros to three hits over seven innings in an 8-0 win. He threw 70 pitches in his return, 48 of those for strikes, and did not allow an Astros hitter past first base.
  15. He has mentioned several times how much he LIKES coming out of the bullpen But then again, how many relievers would NOT rather be starters???
  16. We should do a weekly one. Seriously. Well, almost.
  17. Really only once this whole season that I can recall He's been very, very quiet
  18. Not surprisingly, the Yankees, Rays and Red Sox all beat the crappy teams they were playing se we lose gound Only Baltimore lost
  19. Or Todd Redmond LOL
  20. I can't believe Gibby left him in long enough to give up 6 runs today
  21. Sounds likely And Wang is done
  22. Hey - why don't we use some guys off the bench?!?!?! Oh wait...
