  1. Rauch! LOL - Jon Rauch Opts Out Of Orioles Contract by Steve Adams, Jul 3 at 1:43 PM CST Right-hander Jon Rauch has opted out of his minor league deal with the Orioles, who have granted him his release from Triple-A Norfolk, according to Rich Dubroff of CSN Baltimore (on Twitter). The veteran setup man and former closer signed a minor league deal with the O's back on June 1. Rauch, 34, agreed to a one-year, $1MM contract that contained $750K of incentives with the Marlins this offseason, but the Fish designated him for assignment in late May. Rauch posted a 7.56 ERA with 8.1 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9 in 16 2/3 innings for Miami. His 3.48 FIP suggests that he was considerably better than his ERA indicated during his brief stint with Miami.
  2. Wow I'm glad we didn't trade for him last year. Phew.
  3. Bottom of barrell <---- Scrape here
  4. Makes a lot of sense Good call
  5. Yes The fact that he hasn't been mentioned almost makes me believe he might be right in there too...
  6. A) We're not clearly sellers Morrow not back any time now
  7. That was before Wang blew up in his face Ew. I wish I hadn't typed that.
  8. Brandon f***ing Morrow and Ricky goddamn Romero, that's who
  9. Yep. Someone signed for at least the test of this season and next year too. That's what he'll be after. P. S. We should have traded for Masterson
  10. It absolutely is Business hasn't been this good since 1998 as far as this team is concerned They won't stop now In a few years if the team is past it's peak will they sell off and dump payroll by 50%? Quite possibly. For now I'm sure ownership is happy with what they see and are willing to invest more.
  11. Me too And I honestly believe that the ROI of another 20-30M would actually be pretty good in a business sense.
  12. LOL Whoever is willing to give such a haul should be sent Casey Janssen for a "nearly" astronomical haul
  13. Full Derp to suggest the Red Sox try to re-acquire Pappelbon
  14. Tidbits from MLBTR: - Scouts that have spoken with Martino expect the Phillies to be active sellers, but hold onto Cliff Lee since they want to contend next year. However, rival scouts and execs anticipate that, in addition to Michael Young and Chase Utley, Jonathan Papelbon will be dealt or at least heavily shopped. We've heard previously that the Phillies are expected to ask for an astronomical haul to part with Papelbon. Papelbon also fits the bill as someone who could be kept for next year, but rivals that have spoken with Martino see too much of a need for bullpen help amongst contenders like the Red Sox and Tigers and they expect GM Ruben Amaro to get a strong offer for the closer.
  15. Well then FFS drop a bullpen arm and call him up I don't want to go day after day after day with Lind and Edwin on the bench unable to play but not bad enough for the DL He will find playing time
  16. Rasmus and Lind go up several MM each as well...
  17. So true Rasmus, Escobar, Happ... The "ones that got away" are Justin Upton and Jake Peavy
  18. Yes you do Boston, Yankees, Orioles have been rolling out some weak links this year
  19. Thanks for posting I like the sounds of this guy a lot
  20. Oh boy! http://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/fw4e7d3d37.jpg
  21. A big part of what sucks? So many of these guys could be acquired via free agency, costing no prospects and at most a draft pick Yu Darvish, Annibal Sanchez, Zack Grienke, etc al If you later have to trade to acquire guys like this, you end paying the big $ on their contracts anyway, and have to pay in prospects too. The only upside is you have fewer years on big $, but that's not even always a good thing for a guy going in to his late 30's while you still have him, as you may have missed his best years. Edit: For the record I would not have been on board with the Grienke contract - no way no how
  22. I can't believe I agree with this but the truth? That's where we're at. A front of the rotation starter and an upgrade at 2B or catcher probably puts us over the top for this year and the next 1-2 years as well. After that...
  23. The biggest barrier at getting Lee or Utley (and I love both players) is Amro Jr. He seems so delusional about the Phiilies still being contenders, and about his contracts being reasonable. Neither is true obviously.
