  1. Would I rather have the 10th pick than the 27th? Of course. My only real point is that these higher picks are less "sure" than, say, the NBA, where superstars in waiting like a Lebron James are obvious by the time they're drafted.
  2. Sure Most years there are plenty of impact players taken all through the first round Baseball is so different than NBA and NFL, where it's WAY more clear who the top few picks are. There are all kinds of years where half the top 10 MLB picks are busts and tons of excellent players from the 10-50 range.
  3. Cool Need to get that guy over here
  4. Replace JPA via FA Remove JPA and Bonifacio from the roster Acquire one more legit SP when JJ walks Teach Lawrie how to hit again That's all we absolutely have to do for next year. Upgrades at 2B/DH optional
  5. No. With a slight re-tooling this team has a very good shot next year.
  6. I'd bet dollars to donuts that 2 of those "depth" guys pitch more innings next year than Brandon Morrow
  7. I'd love to know how his stuff looks
  8. Well, well, look what we have here:
  9. Rajai might have swung at that one to...
  10. Perhaps. The one number doesn't tell the whole story, obviously. But this GIF might... http://cdn.fangraphs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/2DavisAllen2.gif.opt_.gif
  11. That Rajai one is pretty hilarious. His head turns and he looks further and further away from the ball as he takes his idiotic swing at a pitch you couldn't hit with a 12 foot pole. By the time his's looking bstratight up I think it's because he realizes how ridiculous it was to swing at it. To be fair on the Colby one he may have been helping protect the runner...
  12. Well, Rajai too. Ahem. http://cdn.fangraphs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/2DavisAllen2.gif.opt_.gif
  13. LOL The Ichiro one is the funniest
  14. Wow, how many times have we, on this board, ripped our guys and made comments like how much more "professional" and "patient" Yankees hitters are. We were wrong.
  15. If he continues to grumble like this the rest of the season, he would probably take a QO and try to right himself in 2014.
  16. Exactly The pick depends on who signs him when he rejects our QO, but you should be able to get a nice prospect for him now from any of 4-5 teams desperate for SP. And a trade now helps him in free agency by removing the compensation stigma from him, a problem that can really mess a guy up in the off season (see Lohse, Kyle). Heck, you could even re sign him if you want to take a crack at it.
  17. Gibby is as much to blame as AA for the Boni fiasco. He gets ways too much playing time.
  18. Because this: When it comes to the All Star game, outfielders are outfielders. There's no LF/CF/RF differentiation on the ballot. So a guy like Rasmus doesn't get any preferential consereration because he plays the more premium position. Guys with "names" and more "power" like Granderson and Bautista will make the all star game ahead of him, even though they're corner outfielders and may not and any more valuable overall.
  19. Glad you mentioned it Rasmus is very good. This seems to be the real Rasmus - excellent fielding range but weak arm, .250 BA with plus power (30 HR) but high strikeouts. Nothing wrong with that. He's a keeper. But not all-star caliber, even with the dearth of high end OF's there seems to be in the AL right now.
