    Yep. What he says is of course true. But it obviously lulled the FO in to a false sense of security, thinking the team was better than it really was. There IS luck in any sport, but especially in baseball.

    Tampa really needs Longoria to miss less time too. His missed time in 2012 really hurt them. Few teams are that dependant on one guy in the lineup. His 2013 was killer. 160 games and 7 WAR. Beauty.

    I dunno. Obviously you have a big issue with him - even your login name tells us that. I always saw that as a single hot headed incident from a guy who always seemed generally very professional. Maybe I'm sugar coating it a bit but he never seemed like a diva in his years in Toronto. And anyone can have a heated moment that's way out of character and it doesn't always mean they're a bad person.

    You know what the s***** thing is? There are several things to be legitimately excited about this year. A healthy (knocks on wood) Reyes. Hutchison looking really good. Melky looking better in early action. JPA is gone. But we undershot at catcher, have a black hole bat at 2B, kept too many relievers, and didn't add a single starter. Meanwhile Baltimore and the Yankees (the teams we had the best chance of leap frogging) have improved themselves. The injury returns and regression to the mean type stuff isn't enough to get us anywhere this year. And there wee several reasonably priced free agent players (Jimenez, Ruiz, Drew, Garza to name a few) who could have really put us in a better position to start the season.

    Ditto from me. We're in the minority I think but that's exactly how I feel too. The Dickey trade and this nothing of an off season bother me.
