    There is a bit of a disparity. Happ has played in the majors and we know he's bad and we know Santana is available and is probably better. Heck, there are better in house options. Goins has a SSS In the majors with one positive (defense) and we know our backups are mediocre. There are some similarities and I hate rooting against any of our players but I feel the same way about Happ as many do. I just want him gone.

    Ball tracking and range have been phenomenal. Arm has been hit or miss.

    Going Santana instead of Happ almost certainly lessens the stress on the bullpen. And could allow you to more comfortably keep both Sierra and Gose on the team and sticking to 7 in the pen if you're so inclined. (And I am)

    I will retract Happ from my roster projection and add Santana. I think it actually happens.

    You don't need your 4/5 guys to be killer. But you don't want guys who give away every other game.

    So did Wang and Ramon Ortiz. but they're few and far between. Happ blows up way too often.

    I can't believe we pulled off a sizeable trade and paid a semi lucrative extension to Happ. Brutal.

    Use him for defense and speed. Give him a year with Seitzer to see if he can work any magic. He's cheap and Fast and plays good defense. Gibby can make use of that.

    Yeah might as well keep him He's done a Hechavarria level decline in trade value. (One of the most interesting stories from the Davidi and Lott book was the disagreement AA and Farrell had about whether to play him or not) The parallels here are very similar except it's too late with Gose - he has enough playing time that every knows he can't hit well enough. Plus Gibby is probably smarter at platooning and moving guys around than Farrell was.
