    I'm not so sure it is posturing. I really don't think the PA has any clue what it is doing, and I think MLB knows that. Combined with the pandemic, I wouldn't be surprised if there were quite a few owners who would be just as happy to sacrifice a likely unprofitable season for a better deal for themselves.

    Yep. This thing is going to be loooonnnggg. So the players also want all 30 teams to be competitive, but they don't want a salary cap structure that would make that happen.

    They'll build the "Dominic Dunne" bar. They're also going to sign Tiny Tim for one save opportunity, which he'll convert. They'll then rebrand the 500 level concourse as a nudist retreat to make Hurl feel better while doing his lap.

    NHL just shut down until after Christmas (although that's really only a few days). Could definitely see it being extended.

    Halladay and Buehrle starts made for some pretty short games too.

    I could see it making sense in the minors. After the 7 innings were official and the game was over, they could have an inning or two of AFL style work.

    That would be terrible. It would encourage some of those teams to have even lower payrolls. You would literally be paying them MORE to be even less competitive. Now if you could sell some cap space (not below the min) for prospect capital at some predetermined rate, that could be interesting (or, even better, for draft picks and their slot value, with the requirement that the teams had to pay those picks slot value or greater).

    The problem for the players is if there's a salary floor, there's going to be a more stringent (or possibly hard) salary cap too. I don't think that's a trade they'll be willing to make when it's all said and done.

    And gay used to mean happy. The meaning of words change over time and with different context. If that's not how the words are being used today or what is meant by the phrases, it shouldn't be considered offensive. You could probably throw out the vast majority of the words we use because of something that happened in the past where they were used in unfortunate ways. Words are often made up to mark something of importance, and a lot of those events are either negative or controversial in some way.

    You know what would be great? If the Internet collectively would scrub all mention of Tony Clark and Manfred. No news stations would even send out a reporter to cover any of it. We'd have an agreement in 2 weeks.

    It's entirely possible that with COVID still gunking things up, the owners may actually prefer to lock out the season. I just wish both sides would have done this last year when they were sitting around twiddling their thumbs.
