Interesting. Apparently MLB is trying to get a deal with NBC and Apple for streaming games, which they're hoping to get 150M a year for (most of it from Apple). I believe Sportsnet has about 1/3 the subscribers, but subscriptions costs about three times the amount, as well as the fact that the audience is much more targeted. It's entirely possible that the broadcast rights for SN really is worth 100 to 150M a year to them.
On another interesting note, I turned on the TV and reruns of "Married with Children" (how have the reruns not been socially blacklisted by now?) is playing the baseball strike episode lol.
