    If a salary floor goes in, there will also have to be a salary ceiling and increased revenue sharing. There pretty much has to be. That's the part that the PA doesn't want under any circumstances.

    Lots of Canadians doing good things in tennis, and golf is fun ... if you bet on it.

    Because ST can only be shortened so much for players to be built up enough to play (especially pitchers). They've clearly decided the shortest is a month (which sounds about right since pitchers usually have about 6 weeks, and only start hitting 5 innings after about 4 weeks with no setbacks).

    They have every right to make sure they have at least the same percentage of the pie.

    I'm curious if the PA put the proposal to a full vote, would the players actually back up the position they're taking? In other words, do the union reps actually represent the player base?

    Sure, why not cancel the opening games. We didn't REALLY want to play the O's anyway. Seriously though, our opening month was absolutely BRUTAL. Missing it could end up being a significant advantage for us.

    Interesting. Apparently MLB is trying to get a deal with NBC and Apple for streaming games, which they're hoping to get 150M a year for (most of it from Apple). I believe Sportsnet has about 1/3 the subscribers, but subscriptions costs about three times the amount, as well as the fact that the audience is much more targeted. It's entirely possible that the broadcast rights for SN really is worth 100 to 150M a year to them. On another interesting note, I turned on the TV and reruns of "Married with Children" (how have the reruns not been socially blacklisted by now?) is playing the baseball strike episode lol.

    They'd better do something longer than one year on a deal.

    Well, I mean you could say the exact same thing about the MLBPA... The best thing that could happen would be for the fans to boycott the same number of games as the ones that are lost. That would send a very, very clear message to both sides for the future. It won't happen though.
