  1. Well, Kodaira was definitely the wrong choice.
  2. In the "I probably should pick different guys" lineup for tomorrow, I'm taking Im, Horschel, Bezuidenhout, Glover, Higgo, and Kodaira
  3. Kind of reminds me of the Disney Black Diamond fiasco. Turned out to be money launderers.
  4. That's true, but expenses for MLB teams have also been skyrocketing. I suspect if you took all the revenue streams, subtracted all the costs teams incur except player payroll, then split the remainder 50/50, player payroll would go down considerably. It's also likely that the move to online streaming will significantly drop the value of some of the TV contracts that have been propping the league up. If MLB really wants to throw the union a cookie though, they should let individual players use and keep 100% of the profit for the advertising patch on their uniforms. Maybe let them do the same with socks and shoes or something too.
  5. Kick him in the knee! (worked for Captain Kirk)
  6. You have no idea how many video games (and consoles) you find at garage sales where the mice in the attic have thoroughly enjoyed the game.
  7. Neither of those things amount to very much money though. It affects what, maybe 5 arbitration players a year? They basically just moved money around. The total values are essentially the same.
  8. They went to a good cause then I've sold a few PS2 games in the $20 to $30 range on eBay. Most are around $10 though (shipping included). If you see a big lot of them cheap and in good condition, you can make decent money on them. You won't be paying for college with one sale though.
  9. Unlikely for anything current. Older games can be worth a bit though. In terms of "newer" systems, PS1 and PS2 games are pretty hot right now.
  10. Yeah. It seems like MLB made a few different minor suggestions at least. There's no coverage about what the players offered. Was the only movement on MLB's side? If so, this is going to last a LONG time.
  11. Yeah. They should have been doing this a long time ago though. Better (literally) late than never.
  12. It looks like the manufacturer sewed the patch on inside out lol. Why can't they just make normal hats?
  13. How many people still call our stadium "Skydome"? Even the sportscasters often do.
  14. Yeah. They had a 100% deposit bonus for the Superbowl, so I decided to create an account and play around a bit.
  15. I tried a system 3/6 bet in Proline today for the first time (NBA games). It was interesting. Got 4/6 right, which worked out to $20 into $28. Would have been a really nice day if one or two of the other games hit in the set. I'll probably be bolder when (if) baseball starts.
  16. Looking at Cantlay, Hovland, Matsuyama, Si Woo Kim, Ghim, Spaun
  17. That's exactly it though. Risk and reward. If you're making $350m, what does that extra $150m ACTUALLY mean to him? On the other hand, let's say he has an accident during the lockdown (or even long haul COVID) or a bad injury while playing and he's made next to nothing at this stage in his career. Heck, who knows how the next CBA will affect top earners. Is the risk of (maybe) $150m that he probably won't know what to do with anyway worth risking the financial security of setting himself and his family up for generations? IMO the risk/reward doesn't compute for turning down a solid offer like that. It would be entirely different if he had been lowballed.
  18. Those seem like pretty fair analysis
  19. Of course there is. Egos will take over brains.
  20. The Disney+ GOAT commercial was amusing.
  21. Lol, enjoyed that Dr. Evil GM commercial.
  22. How does a player not understand they can't do that?
  23. What would it actually cost clubs to pay the minor leaguers in ST? I mean, they're making next to nothing already.
  24. I'd be interested to see it more on a year-to-year basis, particularly the last 10 years. A lot of franchises got a massive boost from MLBAM, new stadiums, and new TV deals. I don't see additional revenue streams providing that kind of gain in the near future. With regards to what the owners actually put in their pockets, it's possible that almost the entire gain comes from increases in franchise valuations as opposed to underlying fundamentals and actual cash flow. Manfred's statement, while perhaps misleading, may not be entirely inaccurate right now. Of course if MLB was to open up the books, it could all be put to rest one way or the other.
  25. OLG has a signup bonus right now where they match deposit funds on new accounts (up to $500), just in case anyone is interested.
