  1. No he wouldn't. Only the guaranteed portion is fixed. Vladdy's performance would add a ton of bonuses that would push him up far beyond what he's currently making. In fact, both players would make more than they currently are since Jansen is very good defensively.
  2. The PA needs to start having issues with itself. Some of their stances are purely ideological and self-serving rather than what's best for the players.
  3. Grichuk's K rate is actually pretty good. The biggest difference between them is that Chapman is elite defensively. Being another righty isn't ideal. It really depends on the cost.
  4. It's an interesting argument to pay by WAR, but I don't think it's a very healthy one for the game. I think better would be to have fixed salaries for young players (maybe 1M?), with additional (potential) position dependent bonuses paid separately for both offense and defense compared to the league average at the position, perhaps prorated to the number of games played at the position and adding an additional kicker for playing multiple positions. That would encourage young players to focus on both sides of the game, reward them for performance while also providing some cost-certainty for the team (or at the very least the team knows they'll be paying for performance). For years 25 through 27 the fixed portion can increase each year, and at 28 there's automatic free agency.
  5. I feel like Kershaw is more risky as he'll probably be asking for a much bigger, longer deal. I think there's a good chance that Verlander will take a 1 year deal with a team that has a decent chance at the postseason.
  6. This game sucks!
  7. Could probably let someone have a second team too if desired, with the caveat that they can't trade with their other team or claim guys their other team was the last to drop.
  8. Thinking about Wolff Gooch Wise Ramey Pendrith Watney
  9. Absolutely. He went with the last pick in the draft, right?
  10. Here's a question. What happens if there's no draft next year? (It's probably unlikely, but I really do think there's going to be at least a lockout). Do the picks get pushed a year, or what?
  11. Hell yeah to Escobar and/or Seager at those prices. Big pass on the closers. I wouldn't be upset with Ray at that price, but there's other options I'd be happy with too. Schwarber I'm not sure on. The price isn't insane, and could allow trading Teoscar or likely Gurriel to fill a big hole elsewhere. Probably a no, but I could see the logic.
  12. Probably neither. I'd assume they're perfectly happy rolling with Bart and Casali.
  13. Okay, now I'm unhappy with Pendrith too!
  14. I think whatever Nick Nurse is being paid, it isn't enough. I am a little concerned about FVV running the offense so far. It hasn't been as smooth as I'd like to see, especially when they're not on the run. That might improve a bit when we get Pascal back though.
  15. I chose him just for you!
  16. Currently looking at fielding a roster of Aaron Wise Zalatoris Gooch Hoffman Pan Pendrith
  17. I love Taylor, but he doesn't seem to have the arm for 3rd. He'd look really nice at 2nd.
  18. Lesson of the day: don't buy a Rav 4.
  19. He had a 3.85 xFIP this year and 3.78 last year, more than a strikeout an inning and averages 95 mph. He'll probably get more, not less. He really just needs to cut down on the long ball a little. Actually, I'd be quite happy with us giving him 4/60.
  20. He also had the highest barrel % of his career and the highest exit velocity, just a suppressed BABIP. Almost everything else was in line with his career numbers except the odd uptick in strikeouts. Basically, it appears he was unlucky. It's not really any different than his 2018 season.
  21. If Fried was a soccer player, he would have been rolling around the entire length of the stadium on that play. The Slo-Mo makes it look 1000x worse too.
  22. Weird Al is a bit hit and miss, but Amish Paradise, It's All About the Pentiums, and The Sega Begins are great! (The music videos for them are pretty good too!)
  23. I think they'll look to pick up a 3rd baseman. The other guys are incredibly valuable super utility players, but they haven't shown they can be more and we want to win next year. Free agents like Bryant (unlikely), Kyle Seager (actually seems like a possible fit), or a trade for Chapman (not as unlikely as it sounds if Oakland's payroll rumours are true) could all be solutions. I wonder if we could sign both Seagers to play together? One at 2nd and one 3rd.
  24. What the hell was that Bregman?
