  1. I would think the system would measure the players automatically when walking up, then set the strike zone as if they were standing straight up. You could squat if you wanted to, but it wouldn't affect the zone. Since that makes too much sense though...
  2. I think the draft room is easier from both an admin perspective and a player perspective. The draft also seems to move a bit faster.
  3. Over / under on the meeting lasting longer than 15 mins?
  4. I don't think the pandemic response will factor into the long terms plans for any sports league.
  5. Yeah, and we might end up having to take that route. Going back to keepers could also work, although we have a few guys that can be hard to track down for drafts. It seems like cutting down to 20 just resulted in everyone dumping middle relievers into the draft. The Basketball league doesn't feel too great with only 6 keepers (to me anyway) as it feels like you can't really keep young players without paying too high a price in terms of competing. Maybe something like 12 MLB and 8 MiLB would work. People would have to make meaningful decisions and drop good talent, but elite players could still be held onto. Dunno.
  6. I don't really think people would go for that. Plus, it would just substitute two somewhat duplicate leagues for one somewhat duplicate league.
  7. I'm tentatively taking: Gooch, Wolff, Rose, Hadwin, Whaley, NeSmith
  8. Who can blame him? It's been like 47 days since anyone made an offer to him
  9. BBDL isn't dead, but I don't really want to run off-season stuff right now as I don't think we'll be seeing baseball for a long time. As soon as we have dates for a guaranteed spring training and stuff, we'll run everything and replace anyone we need to. I am open to turning it into a pure redraft or some other format though if everyone wants to. I do kind of feel like three mostly identical leagues is probably too many for the board to properly support right now.
  10. What a crazy ending!
  11. Maybe the Jays were smart and starting paying Grandma to cook him ultra healthy meals!
  12. You could have predefined base salaries plus WAR escalators or something. If the player reached the free agent threshold during the season, then they would be paid based on their average WAR per game over the past 320 games or something for the remainder of the season.
  13. My lineup was a complete bust lol.
  14. Regarding a salary floor, it doesn't have to be so punitive necessarily. They could simply say teams have a floor of, say, 80M, and if they drop below that value the difference is automatically divided evenly among all players on that team's 25 man roster or something. Teams could still run a full group of prospects out there if they felt it was in the team's best interest, but there would be no extra incentive beyond that for being under. There would be a lot of happy prospects too! They could do something similar for a soft cap. Set it at, say, 200M and automatically tax at 50%, but divide the money between all active 25 man roster players in the league. Putting that money into the players hands would make the concept a lot more agreeable for the MLBPA while still meeting the goals of the owners.
  15. My players appear to be... I didn't notice Blackwood being out though.
  16. I don't think it's all that bad. it probably drops the cost of the first two rounds actually. It definitely increases it for the other rounds a lot though. The amount for rounds 10+ might be a little high.
  17. I was thinking the same thing about Im
  18. I'd like to see a complete reworking of the draft. Maybe something like: Each pick gets $2M in the first 2 rounds, $1M in the next 8 rounds, and $500K in all other rounds. No draft pools (since amounts are predetermined), and the prospects sign a contract when they declare for the draft (the rights are simply transferred over to the team who pays the appropriate bonus to the player). The league would perform physicals on the players prior to the draft. International players, with the exception of posted players, are included, and draft picks are tradable. Each player in the minors gets salaries of $25K / year for short season ball, 50K for A ball, 75K for AA ball, and 100K for AAA ball. That would add some money into the development system where it is very critically needed, make the draft more interesting, pay players fairly, and incentivize teams to take the best player available.
  19. They should have cancelled the CBA and done all of this last year when the pandemic was causing a mess anyway. They likely wouldn't have ticked the public off much if games were missed since they could just blamed it on the pandemic.
  20. Or Tiny Tim gets a save.
  21. Think I'll go somewhat stars and scrubs: Smith, Im, Gooch, Lee, Hodges, Percy
  22. Well, it's a prospect list for fantasy sports, not for real life. The two don't always correlate all that well.
  23. Fred absolutely took the game over!
  24. I'm going with Hovland, Burns, Berger, Gooch, Leishman, and Kim.
  25. MLBTR has a "Guess the end date of the lockout" contest.
