  4. Until the water runs out maybe. They're one of the states that are in major trouble.
  5. I'm pretty sure it's the umpires that do the balls.

  8. I'm not looking to make any major changes as I actually like my team, but I have a few things I could part with (a few pitchers should be useful to a contender). Not particularly looking for draft picks. Would rather something that can help me next year. Bats (cheap): Gomes, McCormick, McCutchen, Miggy Pitchers: Martinez, Wainwright, Boxberger, Kennedy, maybe Mantiply.
  9. I'm not sure he makes it on that ball anyway with Merrifield's momentum coming in. Forcing the throw on a bluff can certainly lead to better results than what Kepler did though.
  10. You don't save the money on a guaranteed contract by releasing the player. You still have to pay them. Who do you think would have taken him on in a trade?
  11. I don't think it was that there was no lane. I think it's that he dropped his knee to block the plate (changed his stance unrelated to catching the ball) before he received the ball.
  12. Sanchez was DFA'd. I wouldn't mind sticking him in the pen and seeing what happens. At some point he's got to realize he's not a viable starter anymore.
  13. I don't think either decision is wrong, but this is the kind of situation, against a division rival in a 1-0 game, where you'd like to see him finish it.
  14. I think some of these guys have some extra pent up energy tonight.
  15. I'll take Gurriel as my first pick of the season.
  16. Yes. His April was hilariously bad. He's been much better ever since, and had a very nice July.
  17. I really don't understand why there is. It would be so much better for players and fans to have a league wide off day. Maybe push the trade deadline until 9pm or something.
  18. His xFIP is nearly identical, but his real world results in the pen are very, very good. .196/.266/.291 with a 2.72 ERA. Reality is probably somewhere in between.
  19. I think we're pretty much bang on the off-season predictions so far. The real surprise has been the Yankees going nuts.
  20. Real nerds work on their own computers. What the hell is wrong with you?
  21. Pop reminds me a lot of Brandon League, but with a little better command (and without the occasional triple digits). Interesting. I hope his blister issues won't be chronic. We don't seem to do well with those.
  22. The more I think about it, he's actually a very good fit. Typically a guy who is very hard to lift the ball against, should come cheap, and has the potential to find another gear. I'm not even sure there's a lot of difference between him and Montas over the course of the remaining 10 ish starts. Energize the fan base, energize the team by bringing in a big name, and don't mortgage the future for a year when the odds are stacked against us anyway. Thor + Robertson + another good reliever would make me very happy with the deadline.
