  1. Dunno, Detroit's pen is pretty bad. Wouldn't be much of a loss for one of them to get a few day's suspension. I assume Scherzer won't though.
  2. That was a GREAT slide by Rasmus. Clean but hard. Unfortunate "break" for Infante (hope he's okay), but that's the kind of attitude and hard play we need. Fully expect Rasmus to have a bullseye on his back now though.
  3. Pretty hard not to go with Trout imo, since every part of his game is dynamic. I'm not sold on Machado like a lot of people are, at least not on him being elite. I want to see how Puig responds when he has his first major slump before I'd even consider taking him over Trout, and same with Harper's knee.
  4. Most definitely NOT in favor of this. If you can get a decent return for him (and apparently there were a few gm's drooling over him in the offseason), I'm okay with trading him. DFA'ing him, absolutely not.
  5. If the price is right, I'd be very much in favor of this assuming Doc was willing to go on the Delabar program.
  6. I'm glad Wang accepted the assignment. I actually think most of his issues are pitch selection (overusing the sinker) more than anything else. He seems to have it in his head that it's all he should throw, but he doesn't throw mid 90's any more and can't get away with it.
  7. People need to remember that our payroll will probably go up next year even if Johnson walks. Several guys have big jumps in their contracts next year (Buehrle, Dickey, and Reyes account for almost 20M all by themselves).
  8. On the plus side, Detroit has the most trouble with ground ball pitchers, and Wang is an extreme one. Some of the Tigers numbers are ridiculous. They're hitting over .300 against starters this year, but only .229 the first time through the order with a reliever.
  9. Happ throwing live BP today, but won't start a rehab assignment until his knee is pain free (guess it still isn't).
  10. Apparently Morrow was finally able to throw pain free today from 60 feet. Moving on up to 90 feet tomorrow. At least that's something.
  11. Considering that people said the same kind of things about EE, Lind, Bautista (to some degree), etc lead me to give them some slack on JPA. I'd still love to get Ruiz or McCann in the off-season, but barring either of those two I think I'd almost rather stick with JPA - at least until we can either say for certain whether CM can or can't fix the bat and plate approach.
  12. We are seriously the walking wounded right now (or perhaps K'ing wounded).
  13. Not sure this was posted anywhere, but interesting regarding JPA. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/davidi-frustration-is-building-around-arencibia/
  14. As far as I can tell, based on fWAR Cecil leads the pitchers (followed by Delabar), and Kawasaki leads the hitters in terms of value.
  15. Even Verlander has been pretty inconsistent (although most pitchers would gladly take his inconsistency). Detroit's only real problem though is the BP imo.
  16. Rajai stops trying to pull everything, and suddenly he starts hitting like he did for those 2 years in Oakland before he came over here. Who would have thought that a coach could possibly provide the most / least WAR on a team? It's the new market inefficiency!
  17. That knuckler actually seemed to jamb Fielder. Crazy power.
  18. I really hate that rule about the errors. No way should the outfielder be credited with an error on a nearly perfect throw. There either needs to be team errors, or just call it safe with the runners advancing on the throw.
  19. Probably better to keep it transparent. Perhaps we could do something different though like getting the first home run of the day right is worth 2 bonus points, 2nd 1 bonus point, 3rd just the player points, etc.
  20. We always seem to struggle first time against a pitcher we haven't seen before. Let's wait until second time through the order before we complain too much about the bats.
  21. Hopefully DeRosa can stay in the game today too. He was apparently unavailable yesterday due to injury. The minor ones are starting to add up.
