  1. Both players have provided 0 fWAR this year with negative defense (ignoring pitch framing). JPA actually provided more fWAR last year. Now if you argue pitch framing, you can't ignore JPA being apparently above average this year as well. Do I want JPA to remain our catcher? No. Do I want Molina as our catcher? No. KJ was terrible for us in 2012, passable for Arizona in 2011, and terrible for the Braves in 2009. He bounced back, good for him. If he was still here and struggling people would be crying over why he was brought back and would have had a case. As for Reyes, he's provided 1/2 the WAR in 1/2 the games while playing on a bad leg which is clearly hurting his defense and base running. Regardless we all know that him being moved had other reasons behind it, and AA was probably ordered to do so.
  2. MDR! While I really though we should get rid of him early on, he's been valuable to have.
  3. Wow, I don't think I've ever seen Reyes pissed off before.
  4. A playoff series between us and Seattle. All the games would basically be home games. Great start by Dickey though, we need more of those.
  5. Interesting about the knuckleball though. You'd have to think that it might actually be more important for a knuckler to get on top of the ball than a regular pitcher, but I hadn't thought about it before.
  6. Poor Seattle. That's twice the umps have screwed them this inning. I guess we do have home field advantage!
  7. All 3 games going on right now have the bases loaded ...
  8. I don't think so, but it does look like it's barking a little. They may have to give him a day or two off here or there.
  9. You have to think they're going to try to pitch around Reyes here.
  10. Thankfully that effect is reversible by putting the troll on the ignore list
  11. Lol at CB Buckner. At least he isn't biased ... he just sucks.
  12. Kendrick carried off the field with a knee injury.
  13. If he keeps up this patient (or at least not amped) approach, they I'd say he's already breaking out. He could have a big 2 final months this year.
  14. I really really hate when home plate umps call check swings.
  15. Did they also make fun of their own base running, because it just cost them a run.
  16. Spam message. Don't click on the links, just report it.
  17. The Jays should seriously get 1/2 the gate when they're in Seattle ...
  18. Looks like Iglesias might be hurt.
  19. Oh yeah. Since it was in Chicago, the pitcher probably would have gotten a standing ovation if he hit him...
  20. Man I thought Jose got enough of that. Either he hit it on the end of the bat or the ball isn't carrying at all.
  21. Obviously he shouldn't be playing center, but even in right he's probably only average defensively right now (maybe a small tick above), and that's going to decline as he ages. On the hitting side, he's not a big power guy, so as his bat slows the power he has will likely disappear which will decimate his OPS. His eye will still make him a decent player, but not at the money he'll command. That's just my opinion. He could re-invent himself or buck those expections, you never know, you just can't count on it happening. I believe according to the 2013 pitch framing study, McCann has saved the most runs of any catcher between 2008 and 2013. Further, he's been rated as a positive defender in every year since 2008. He's 6th in WAR for catchers this year in spite of missing part of the year and only having 2/3 of the games of other guys on the list. He's 4th in WAR and 3rd I believe in defense among all catchers since 2010 behind only Wieters and Yadier.
