  1. Might have been smarter to say you over-performed, otherwise they probably told you that you were grounded until you starter working hard enough to realize your true talent...
  2. No, it isn't. It's an evaluation tool to help us see past personal bias to determine what a given team should be able to attain all things being equal. It can't account for things like freak injuries (or freak good health), or trades that haven't happened yet for example. Using them in hindsight is a misapplication of them, as is believing that they are designed as some sort of absolute predictor of the future.
  3. I don't follow the nba that closely other than watching some of the Raptor's games when I'm bored, but that return seems terrible.
  4. Well, Delmon does hit lefties well. He can't possibly be any worse at 1st as he is in the outfield, can he? In all seriousness, we could probably do worse than him as a motivated bench platoon guy with some pop.

Thornton said that it wasn't his intention. Which part exactly? It seemed pretty hard to mistake that for an accident...
  6. Even better would be to trade them a reliever for Gardner ourselves and extend him, then trade Rasmus to Seattle to fix 2nd base (and get good young controllable talent to boot).
  7. Yeah, if everything goes right they could be deadly, but that's asking a lot especially of aging guys. I also don't like their rotation very much.
  8. It would be so hilarious if they skimped the rest of the offseason to just squeak in under the cap, then had someone trigger a forgotten about bonus at the end of the season...
  9. Yeah, it would be tough. I don't know what I'd think of it either, but that seems like the kind of return it might take - especially with 1st base bats flying off the FA list. I think it would be worth it.
  10. Again, I didn't say that Butler had a better year last year, I said that I would take Butler over Lind in a heartbeat (which is what Havok said before you decided to get snarky).
  11. I suspect the cost would be rather high (and likely won't matter since he'll probably go to TB anyhow). Still really nice to dream about. (I kept trying to find something that he might ask for, but closest I can think of might be Gose + Lind for Franklin and Smoak.
  12. We probably would have with the arms if it wasn't for a few really poorly timed TJS.
  13. To get impact position players from the farm, it kind of helps to DRAFT impact position players ...
  14. I didn't say that, you said that Lind was better than Butler in almost every way last year, which is what I was responding to. I would easily take Butler over Lind, but I wouldn't give up a haul to do so.
  15. Very nice analysis. I love the depth and thought you guys are putting into these.
  16. I would take Butler over Lind in a heartbeat, especially if he never sees the field. And this comes from someone who likes Lind.
  17. I'm not sure I'd qualify him as a bust yet. Regardless, he has hit better outside of Safeco the last few years. Anyhow, the real prize would be Franklin.
  18. They could be very helpful regardless. Maybe Jack-Z will panic and do something like Lind + for Franklin and Smoak...
  19. Yeah, some of these things should have been in there. Mods can just merge them after a day or so though.
  20. If there were going to look at something like that, the Angels and Jays would probably just cut out the unnecessary team (Phillies) and deal directly.
  21. Yeah, the last one we did ended up being the Angel's regret!
  22. The Dodgers, they're trying to corner the market on them I think.
  23. You'd have to target it to contracts that were considered big at the time of signing. Otherwise the sample size would probably be too small.
  24. I thought last year he was going to be a breakout guy, especially after his torrid WBC. I still think there's a high end player there that hasn't managed to break out yet. He needs to get the hell out of Safeco.
