  1. People tend to salivate a little too much over prospects at times (not that I want to lose any of ours mind you, I love them too). When GM's trade older guys for hyped prospects, everyone considers them genius. When they make a now move instead of perpetually rebuilding, they're idiots. We're seeing it this year with Beane (Jim Johnson anyone?). He's the same GM he was before, just in a different phase for the organization.
  2. Dunno, I'm just watching the webcast.
  3. Good god this MLB network coverage is hard on the ears. Russo needs to stop climbing octaves while yelling.
  4. Yikes. This one I DON'T like for us (but Craig going to Fenway is AWESOME for my fantasy team).
  5. I actually like this deal for Oakland (and for us for that matter). I'd much prefer Cespedes going to the Sox for 1.5 years that they're unlikely to seriously compete during (and no QO) than an elite young player we'd be facing for the next decade going there. The A's have had a great offense all season, so they can likely take the hit of losing Cespedes. They basically turned a competitive balance pick + ~2.5 to 3 WAR (over a full season) Cespedes for 4 to 5 WAR Lester and probably 1 WAR Gomes. Just watch them go out and sign Rusney Castillo now to replace Cespedes.
  6. Since I guess BTS clock is up, Abomination selects Chase De Leo, a center with the Winnipeg Jets. Jaysguy is on the clock, with JFaS/TRM x2, Jaysblue, and BTS able to select at any time.
  7. I'm interested in what people here view Hellickson's price as. Seems no one in the BBDL wants anything to do with him (which is fine, I'm perfectly happy holding onto him this year as he rebuilds his value, I'm just concerned I can't protect him in the offseason).
  8. That's only useful when Lind isn't injured though remember, and also doesn't take into account what Lind might bring in trade (not a blue chip prospect, but not org guys either). This last one with his foot was a fluke, but he seems to have a really bad back which is almost guaranteed to pop up at least a few times a year. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that Francisco could provide equal overall value over the course of an average year, especially when you add in the ability to kind of fill in at 3rd periodically. I'd be sad to see Lind go (I was probably one of the few that didn't want him DFA'd a few years ago), but I can see an argument for trading him and going with Francisco.
  9. I'm kind of wondering if this might be in consideration for this off-season, although I think they get something for Lind via trade. Probably saves 4+ mil. Some potential drop in the bat, but probably not enough to make up for the salary difference if it's spent wisely.
  10. At least you didn't insist on Robbie Ross instead of Tyson Ross like I did ... Man did I get that one wrong.
  11. As a Hudson owner in the BBDL, this is good to know
  12. In other news, Angrioter perplexed by his goats producing sour milk.
  13. So, apparently the Cubbies demoted Neil Ramirez (their best reliever) because they want to manage his workload, at least so says the Yahoo note? (he's at 35 innings between AAA and MLB). Anyone else think they just might have their eyes on that #1 draft pick next year?
  14. Heh, Joey stood and watched that one a little too long for a ball that appeared to bounce off the top of the wall.
  15. Yeah, the only reports I'd consider to have some merit at this point are those put out by Davidi (since he actually DOES seem to have some insider info). I think the rest is just AA literally calling about anyone and everyone. Some teams probably have pitchers he likes, and some have bats.
  16. Well, I don't like Sanchez coming up now (did he even get into a game as a reliever yet?). I understand the thinking though, in terms of wanting to see if he can fill the role before having no choice but to trade for someone. I don't think this has anything to do with showcasing him.
  17. The offer probably looks better if you're packing away a few .
  18. I wonder what the club record is for runs given up by someone who didn't start the game?
  19. Can we blame this on Fatcow for posting the wrong lineups?
  20. So ... he looks like Halladay at the same age is what you're saying? People forget that Hutch is still only 23.
  21. This is rather amusing: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/baseball/minor-league-gm-to-get-prostate-exam-while-singing-take-me-out-to-the-ballgame-1.2713713
  22. Realistically he's probably Reed Johnson with the ability to fill in at a few infield spots. Very useful player, but probably not an everyday guy imo.
  23. I love the way Kratz moves and presents a target behind the plate.
