  1. Davis was a plus defender last year (his first full year at 3rd rather than being moved everywhere). He's not IKF with the glove, but he's probably slightly above average both offensively and defensively. If he puts up last year's defense and the ~120 wRC+ he had in previous years, he's probably a 3 war player. Doesn't hurt that it's his contract year either. IMO the best way we can utilize IKF is as a later game defensive replacement / pinch runner. He has a ton of value in that role.
  2. That seems like a good fit for both sides.
  3. I wonder what the Giants would want for JD Davis now that they've signed Chapman?
  4. That's not necessarily true. It's making the assumption that he's better as a starter than the other options that are in house or otherwise available, which I'm not convinced is the case. It could easily be a negative effective return on investment. Having his late game defense and versatility available off the bench would very likely be superior to our other options though, and that's where his value could really come into play.
  5. It looked ridiculous when it was signed and it isn't getting any better. Regardless, the biggest issue is if he's starting. If he's on the bench, he's probably worth the money in that role.
  6. Mikolas is available if someone is looking for a back end workhorse who isn't completely useless.
  7. I dunno, he seems to have some performance issues inside his noggin.
  8. His numbers against righties are actually pretty potent. He'd be a nice pinch hitting and DH option off the bench as needed.
  9. Apparently you get them to marry a nutritionist.
  10. Personally I'm hoping Manoah bounces back to 2021 and 2022 form, but whatever floats your boat.
  11. Sign him and only have him start on the road!
  12. You peaked too early. It's all downhill from here.
  13. Probably further down the alphabet than that. I do like the signing though.
  14. We should probably see what the new owners are like before running around in a panic. Private equity groups may very well prioritize profit over on-field performance. It's hard to see they being worse than the disfunction the Orioles had though.
  15. In his career, he has a 102 wRC+ vs lefties and a 106 wRC+ vs righties. I'm sure that would drop a bit if he was consistently facing the nasty lefties, but he's not as bad as people are making him out to be. He also has 41 home runs in 1200 PA. We're basically talking about a league average bat that plays roughly league average defense (if you keep him out of the outfield) and has 20hr pop.
  16. I think Dickey was close to 80 mph with the knuckleball before coming to the Jays, and it was absolutely filthy at that speed.
  17. We don't know what the Jays internal projections say about those players. It's not like the front offices just look at Fangraphs for their information. You can bet what they use is far more advanced.
  18. I guess it's possible some of those teams may have had interest and their players told them hell no.
  19. You'd think someone like the Rays would sign him. They have no fans to piss off anyway.
  20. He's probably not allowed to delete his account and start over anymore. I'm sure even the service formerly known as Twitter has limits.
  21. That writeup does NOT like Schneider's defense at 2nd. It doesn't really jive with what we actually saw last year. I wouldn't call him an amazing defender, but it felt like he was probably league average. Saying he's well below average and giving him a 30 grade seems a bit harsh.
  22. Or maybe to the Giants for JD Davis.
  23. You'd have to think the Jays could probably move Bassett if they wanted to as well, especially if they were receiving a bigger contract in return from someone desperate for a good starter and a little tight on their finances. It's possible we could address a hole that way as well, and we probably have the depth now that we could.
  24. That's interesting. I assumed based on rumors and some front office stuff that there was no chance he would resign here. Now I'm kind of wondering if they may be able to resign him in the offseason and basically just rented him for a bunch of 1st rounders.
  25. Definitely feels a bit weird, but I like that he reasons out the picks and doesn't just copy and paste other lists.
