  1. He'd be interesting, but I don't think they'd want to move him.
  2. Yeah, he tried to shoot it before he caught it. Great play by VanVleet to get the offensive foul call though!
  3. I don't think that's true. We made a very good offer to Edwin to keep him, we took on full contracts to get guys like Liriano, and let's not discuss Morales. The team is simply in a transition period, so long term deals probably don't make a lot of sense atm. Shorter term deals often involve value type signings.
  4. There must be some money being eaten ... like a LOT of money being eaten.
  5. I think I read somewhere that Otani's favorite player is Darvish. If true, maybe we can get him if we also sign Darvish
  6. The part about the Cubs creating the fictional DVD is really interesting. Major props for creativity.
  7. I still strongly believe Tellez will be claimed if we expose him, and I'm really hoping we don't.
  8. C - Carlos Ruiz, Hundley INF - Stephen Drew OF - Ethier, Jay SP - Anderson, Chacin, Wei-Yin Chen, Garcia, Hellickson, Hutch (maybe), Liriano, Lynn, Tyson Ross
  9. I think the words "oh hell no" come to mind.
  10. I'd love to get JD, but not at THAT price. At least not for a guy who already struggles on defense.
  11. We all know what will happen. They'll sign three higher end guys quickly and get a bunch of fan excitement and tickets sold, then back out of the contracts when the physicals come in.
  12. Yeah, accept it, then next year they can't be offered it again.
  13. Add to that his near no-hitter in his second career start. I was just starting university when that happened, and was watching it in the common room. It felt really magical (and heartbreaking when he lost it). That playoff matchup between him and Carpenter was also really something.
  14. They should rename the revamped Dunedin complex after him when it's completed. It's fitting, given he went down there to remake himself.
  15. Boy, offering it to Wade Davis seems really risky with him coming off a shaky year.
  16. Damn, he's probably my favorite Jay of all time.
  17. IMO there's no chance Tellez doesn't get taken. His problems last year were due to family issues if I remember right. He's basically MLB ready, and someone will want to see what that bat can do.
  18. No one said Devon Travis was a ceiling, or anything about prospect rankings of the two. I said that if you take the type of hitter and defender Travis is, make him healthy, and add a few extra home runs you probably get a good projection for Bo. That's probably a player in the 3 to 4 WAR range every year. Not a superstar, but a very valuable player just the same. These dreams of Altuve though are just silly. Bo does NOT have Altuve's elite speed, and that's a critical factor. As for players in our system, Snider was a VERY highly rated and touted prospect. Sometimes even the highest touted guys don't work out.
  19. He wouldn't have been cheap, although they could resign him now at a more reasonable cost perhaps.
  20. I think it's a second for us, but not positive. It sounds like he could be a hot commodity, and has some concerns as it is. I wonder if we're better looking elsewhere?
  21. I feel like we may be overvaluing Bichette a little (although hopefully he lives up to it). I kinda see him ending up similar to a healthy Devon Travis, with a little higher home run rate. That's not a bad thing mind you, it's probably a 3 to 4 WAR / year player. No way would I trade him for Garcia though. Bichette fits our needs absolutely perfectly.
  22. Avisail had a nice year, but he only has two years of arbitration remaining, is about to get expensive, and is highly likely to regress heavily on the numbers he produced this year. I suspect no one here would be willing to even entertain something like that.
  23. The start of the signing period sure has been quiet around the league. Oops, got the dates wrong. 2 days to go.
  24. Lebron had a monster game tonight: 57 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks.
