I have no issue with him holding out for more. I do have an issue with the MLBPA trying to say there's a problem with the system because he hasn't signed yet.

If his defense doesn't improve over what he did last year, he might end up being a $300M DH. That's ... not ideal.

I doubt it. Their window probably starts in 2 years, or would if Preller manages to not screw it up. -
This seems highly unlikely. He may set up a goal, and will almost certainly terrorize some unprepared defenders though.

Lol, could you imagine someone trying to convince Jeter to give 300M to a guy who doesn't believe in playing hard? -
I'd rather see us go after someone like Rendon or Arenado next offseason, both of which might be better than Harper is anyway. Ozuna would be nice in the OF too.

It's possible he could play harder, now that he doesn't have to worry if he gets injured. It's also possible he goes the Hanley Ramirez route. -

Increase minors pay to at least 50k, increase the mlb min to 1M. Start arbitration in the season following the first callup, while taking into account service time in the arbitration process (ie, emergency or September callups wouldn't have much effect). Allow arbitration to also decrease pay if merited. Limit MLB contracts to 4 years, with the team they last played for being allowed to offer 5. If you've played at least 7 years for a particular team, that team can add an extra year to their offer.

I highly doubt the owners would do this without some kind of formal agreement. It's much more likely that it's a combination of front offices going fully into analytics, and a few players asking for far too much. There also seems to be a slowdown of new TV deals, which probably created a temporary artificial bubble.
