  1. Looks like Knebel is out with elbow *problems*. Hader is probably going to get a lot of work in the first part of the season.
  2. It's nice to see us put up a win on the road, against a good team, without Lowry.
  3. Sanchez wins 15+ games with an ERA under 3.5 Tellez leads the Jays in home runs Pillar is still a Jay at the end of the year, but Smoak and Morales are not Red Sox miss the playoffs At least one Astros pitcher gets nailed for using an illegal substance on their hands Zunino hits over .270 and leads all catchers in WAR No batter hits over 39 home runs Edwin Diaz loses the closer's job with the Mets Cano surpasses 30/100 and hits over .300 this year The team with the best record in baseball this year will be someone who missed the playoffs last year
  4. Why do you want to punish us on opening day?
  5. Did he give up that much though? Betts is probably going to pull in between 55 and 60M in his three arbitration years, and while Bregman is very, very good, he isn't Betts. It's probably fair to put him at around 50M for those three years. His two free agent years are worth, I don't know, 60 to 65M? He probably left 15M on the table, and that's assuming he had nearly perfect health during his three arbitration years, which is certainly no sure thing. It's a very good deal for him imo, and it's a decent deal for the Astros to lock up two of his FA years at a reasonable cost.
  6. Maybe, but it seems more likely that it's not being accounted for well (kind of a lesser version of that time Lawrie broke WAR).
  7. Increase in franchise value only really matters if you plan on selling, and the current TV contract is already locked in for the entire length of Trout's new contract. It will certainly help in some other areas though.
  8. I'd probably be more inclined to project a 10% / year decline starting after his age 28 season rather than a fixed WAR amount. I also suspect the value per WAR isn't 10M, but probably closer to 8M for position players (maybe this offseason bumps it up a bit with the 3 large deals, but a lot of players have also been agreeing to contracts much lower than expected too). I think it spiked in the past with a bunch of the new TV deals.
  9. Well, it kind of is. Owner's stupidity in one or two other contracts don't change this being an astronomical AAV at very long term. Will the Angels get a good return on investment (assuming he stays healthy)? Probably, the bat should still provide the value alone even as his speed and defense decline. The best part about this deal is people being able to tell Tony Clark, and his complaints about the players not being paid, to go suck it. 3 of the top 4 contracts in MLB history have been signed this offseason (and I think 3 of the top 5 in all sports).
  10. That was horrible timing lol. We're up 34, empty the bench and let the reserves finish it off before anyone else goes down.
  11. We needed a game like this!
  12. I bet your judgement hasn't...
  13. Time to check the positioning of the horseshoe up my ass. Finals time baby! Good luck Zeros!
  14. That overtime made it WAY too close for comfort.
  15. Yeah, it's gonna be touch and go. I think given that the Canucks are ahead, I should be able to hang on to those and bench Fleury tonight (now that they've corrected their earlier issue and he's properly unlocked). And ... now I'm glad I benched him.
  16. s***, and I screwed up by not benching Fleury (who was apparently out, with Subban the confirmed starter on multiple sites). Guess they changed their minds. Wait, I thought that game started later tonight
  17. Jaysblue starting Khudobin tonight with nothing to gain gives me an actual chance to come back in our matchup!
  18. WTF is up with these calls?
  19. I could be wrong, but I think the prospects may stay in places owned by the organization in some cases, and host families in some of the short season leagues.
  20. I wish he was still on the Whitecaps. Their first three games have been painful to watch (although they've had some very questionable penalty kick calls against them).
  21. They are REALLY laying into Lebron in this broadcast (and rightfully so). He's sitting at the end of the bench away from everyone else, didn't even get up during a timeout.
  22. This is excellent. It could also give them a BIG leg up in the IFA market (at least until the drafts are combined).
  23. I think the pitcher has 20 seconds to come set, not to deliver the ball.
