    I'd like to see him move to a 4-seamer, curve, and splitter. I think that combo, with his velocity, would be quite effective.

    Pillar has put up a 65 wRC+ with negative fielding this year. He's basically Ryan Goins.

    The movement is pretty similar. He's getting slightly less sink, but I suspect that has more to do with control (getting the ball up too much) rather than anything else. The only pitch that really shows a noticeable difference is his curve, which is sharper than it has been in the past (I'm not sure if that's a good thing given his control). He really just needs to find a way to get his control back to slightly below average without getting blisters. I kind of think a move to the pen might be worse for his finger. It might be time to abandon the sinker.

    I guess it depends where you are in the standings. If you expect to be easily into the playoffs, you might want to hold onto him. If you're scratching and clawing your way in, having a healthy body for the next two months might be more important. I'm obviously assuming this is a redraft, btw.

    His velocity really hasn't changed. He might be using a different grip though.

    I was wondering about that too. It appears that both his velocity and general movement are similar to what they've always been, he's just not commanding it. If you're sinker isn't down in the zone, it's going to be hit hard somewhere. He's probably not a pitcher who should be throwing a sinking fastball.

    If we're taking on 3/68 for Myers, we'd better be getting multiple elite prospects back in the Stroman deal too.

    Pitching and I don't seem to agree with each other. Actually, I've been basically treading water lately. The blowups have been spectacular though.

    At least you didn't start Tanaka AND Porcello in DFS, with Tanaka in the captain's slot. I've never had -36 from my pitching before.

    It's always difficult. If it's a dynasty league, then teams that are out of it can still make smart pickups to improve their situation for the following year, and tend to stay a little more active. Some sort of money-based league could maybe have small weekly pots that handicapped teams or something. We've toyed with the idea in dynasty of weighting draft lotteries to (very) slightly favor top performing non-playoff teams, giving teams the incentive to finish as high as possible. We've never implemented it in any leagues though.
