  1. They'd likely have to kick in something. Diaz isn't worth 100M. It would be intriguing though. We'd be able to get a real prospect haul in deals for Diaz, Giles, and Stro.
  2. Only one more year. I'm sure they'll want to offload Cano in a Diaz deal though.
  3. Quantrill and Nimmo maybe, with us kicking back a healthy OF?
  4. Probably a sideways move to try to relieve asking pressure on more elite guys like Giles.
  5. I'd be perfectly happy with Quantrill being a second piece in a deal, but not the main headliner. I think he'll eventually settle in as a mid-rotation guy.
  6. That was a nasty pitch.
  7. Vladdy got around on that one!
  8. Yeah, it seems like he's not getting around. He's just a bit late on most of the pitches.
  9. They would even out if the difference was due to random events. You can easily see that's not the case. If he increases his rate of balls in the air, it's because he's made an adjustment at the plate.
  10. Plus, the rules are changing next year about how many guys can be in the pen, etc. More generally though, I'd say velocity and spin rate are trendy right now. That results in pitchers trying to maximize those who shouldn't be, because it costs them command. Yeah, you might strike a few more guys out, but if you're leaving meatballs in the middle of the plate 20% of your pitches you're going to be in for a rough time. If all you have to do is change pitch priority (like Stroman, throw what works best more), or you have the ability to add pitches to your repertoire while maintaining your command, then tweaking your approach to reduce contact will produce great results.
  11. I doubt it's even the teams. Clicks are worth a lot of money, and when journalists can simply hide behind "sources" there's a lot of incentive to push out fake reports. As long as some are real, they can keep their reputations relatively intact.
  12. He'd only be under contract with them through next year, and then can pick where he wants to go. Whether the team he's traded to now has their top prospects or not is probably of no concern to him.
  13. Let the Yankees (who don't seem to want Stroman anyway) anti up for him, and it'll put more pressure on the teams we do want to trade with.
  14. Yeah, two bases from when he touched it would make sense. Exploit it heavily until MLB fixes the rule. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if TB may have done that intentionally. They're always looking for ways to get an edge, and they're desperate for the wins right now.
  15. Okay, so the official ruling is that it's considered a ground rule double. If I'm the players, I'm exploiting this every time I can on defense. He'll, I'd be openly practicing it.
  16. If I'm the Jays in this game, and the Rays hit a double down the line with a runner at first, I'm "accidentally" shoveling the ball into the stands to save the run.
  17. There's no chance Grichuk doesn't score on that if the ball stays in play.
  18. That could explain why his bat sucks.
  19. Actually, obligations are a good point. If he was still rehabbing, we'd have to be paying for it. We did save money by paying him to go away.
  20. There's been what, one player who walked away from anything significant (from a ballplayer's perspective)? It's a pretty safe bet.
  21. In this case, it is. He wouldn't have retired otherwise, and we'd be paying him AND he'd be taking up the 40 man spot.
  22. Woohoo! For once I DIDN'T pick the worst performing pitcher in DFS!
  23. Yeah, but he doesn't know where the arrows are going anymore. Actually, he's never known where they were going.
