Unless Wheeler is closer to the 15M / year range, I really feel like he's a mistake. Some guys just don't put it together, whether from bad instruction or stubborness. He actually seems a lot like Bauer. All the talent in the world, but the results just don't match.
Speaking of Bauer, in 2017 and particularly 2018, he finally breaks out by doing what? Increasing the usage of his best pitches and decreasing the usage of his worst. What does he do this year? Dramatically increases the usage of his two worst pitches and produces a 4.33 xFIP as a reward.
