  1. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to see a pitcher's duel in this game. That probably means the LA game will be stupidly high scoring.
  2. Yeah. He doesn't look good at all so far.
  3. Yeah, I use baseball-reference for contracts. I don't think he would be available in a deal like that, but something like that would make me okay with taking on Price's full contract.
  4. I think I'd have to say no. Price would have to average like 4 WAR / year just to break even on that contract, and he's probably no longer that pitcher. Now if they attached someone like Benintendi to him, the answer would be different.
  5. Definitely possible. Maybe we take on a contract from a team that's going to tear it down?
  6. I was just about to make a comment on what a great job Petit was doing. Oops.
  7. Wow, I thought that ball was fair live. Good call by the ump.
  8. Yeah, I know, but I don't think he would have gone deep anyway. They have both Snell and Glasnow in the pen, and either or both could use this as a throw day.
  9. I doubt either starter does, unless they completely dominate.
  10. Did MLB add some extra juice to the balls for the postseason?
  11. I like Wheeler, but I think you're probably looking at a 3ish WAR pitcher with injury concerns (albeit one who DOES have the talent to break out and become an ace). That's still valuable, but I don't really want to risk 5/115 on someone like that. You'd probably get much better production out of Ryu on a 3/50 deal or something. Now if Wheeler came in at 5/90, then sure. You're basically subtracting a year for injury, and we probably break even on the other four.

  13. I keep feeling like Wheeler is a landmine. Maybe he takes off like Scherzer did, but I can't help feeling that he'll continue to be a 4 xFIP kind of guy, and probably get 20-25M a year for it. Go big on Cole, or sign some mid-range guys who don't carry the term risk. Maybe Gibson, Odorizzi, Pineda (who should come with a discount for the suspension), Roark, Ryu, Wacha. Then sign a wildcard guy like a Ross or Smyly. I think my preference among those guys would be Pineda and Ryu, with Smyly added as a wildcard. Ryu Pineda/Gibson/Odorizzi Thornton Kay Smyly (or an opener if he sucks too much) Not a pretty rotation, but one that I think could outperform expectations without tying up a bunch of future money.
  14. I actually like the idea of keeping one slot available for an opener / BP day. It would allow a free rotation spot when one of our young arms forces their way up, could be easily skipped when we have off days, etc.
  15. Develop bats and buy arms, please.
  16. What are you looking for, picks?
  17. I thought it might have gotten bat first, but far too close to be able to say a decision either way was unfair.
  18. More like Trent Grisham, the BJMB Survivor hero.
  19. Lol, that was a great pitch to Zimmerman too.
  20. Pomeranz could be an interesting bullpen target this offseason. Let him go two innings at a time like Font.
  21. Probably the umpire's union.
  22. LMAO at that "buy .ca" add!
  23. That was probably the Nats only chance. They're likely going to get Pomeranz for two followed by Hader for two now.
  24. I think all the umps rotate through there.
