Definitely disappointing if we really were interested in him. We're getting tagged as being interested in just about everyone though, so it's entirely possible our interest was completely fabricated.
I'll say this. There have been some good, recent pitchers who haven't been able to handle pitching in Yankee Stadium. They had better hope to hell Cole isn't one of them.
I'll take upgrades wherever we can get them. I'd prefer keeping the DH spot open, but if it means adding a 30 home run guy who gets on base as opposed to a Pillar type bat, I'll gladly take Edwin.
It feels like Mazara was always expected to be so good. He's now produced less than 2 WAR over 4 full seasons. Texas is probably wise to try to capitalize on him.
Price is probably worth somewhere between 3/50 and 3/60, so the question becomes what the prospects are worth to make up the difference. That seems about right to me. I'd love more, but both guys are very likely solid major leaguers.
Meh. The weather is probably better in Toronto for April/May and September/October than it is in a few places in the States, and way the hell better in the ballpark. Most players don't live in the city they play in over the winter anyway.
Cold doesn't matter because we play in a dome. You could argue that's an advantage for us, but it seems like the cold hurts hitters more than pitchers, so maybe not.
If the Raps can take their defense at the end of the game into tomorrow, they're going to give people nightmares. Too bad they didn't play like that for the other 40 minutes.
