Found this blog. I'm going to try and get this guy to start posting here. Not that he's posting anything groundbreaking but he's obviously got a passion for the draft. http://www.bluejaysplus.com/2013/06/what-to-expect-from-blue-jays-heading.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter What to Expect From the Blue Jays Heading Into Draft Day THE MLB RULE 4 DRAFT IS THIS THURSDAY, AND IN THE FIRST ROUND, THE BLUE JAYS WILL BE PICKING 10TH OVERALL.. THIS IS THEIR HIGHEST SELECTION SINCE JPR PASSED UP ON TROY TULOWITZKI TO TAKE THE GREAT RICKY ROMERO. I WILL BE PREVIEWING THE TOP PROSPECTS IN THIS DRAFT THAT THE JAYS HAVE EITHER BEEN LINKED TO, OR LOOK TO BE DRAFTED AROUND THE AREA WHERE THE JAYS ARE DRAFTING. I feel it’s safe to assume that certain players are bound to go ahead of the Blue Jays' tenth pick in this year’s rule four amateur draft, but after those five players anything could happen. The players I believe will be picked of the Jays are: Jonathan Grey, Mark Appel, Kris Bryant, Kohl Stewart, and Colin Moran. Here are the players, after those five, that could end up being selected by the Jays. They’re in order of who I would want the Jays to take once their pick arrives. The list is derived from videos I’ve watched, along with scouting reports I’ve read. I don’t own a pitcher or batter bias, rather, I prefer the best player available, with the most projectability and the least risk, in my opinion. I am not a professional scout, I have just watched some video and read a lot about each of these players. Keep in mind that when the Jays have gone with position players in the top few rounds under the AA regime, they seem to go with toolsy players who don't necessarily need to stick in the outfield, so Frazier and Meadows are likely being targeted at this point. 1-CLINT FRAZIER – OF – 6’1 – 190 LBS -- 18 YEARS OLD Frazier’s unique combination of speed and power put him near the top of most draft broads, and if the Jays are lucky enough to have him fall onto their laps, they cannot pass on him, in my opinion. He’s outstandingly athletic with room for growth, and again, the power and speed are quite evident. He could have a 70 power bat in the future, and 50 hit tool. He plays the game all-out, which can have its pros and cons obviously, evident in the constant drama that surrounds Brett Lawrie. 2-BRADEN SHIPLEY – RHP – 6’3 – 190 LBS -- 21 YEARS OLD This solid college righty has really raised his draft stock, especially when considering he wasn’t drafted out of high school, at all. Shipley throws 3 solid pitches that all project as possibly above average offerings, with a fastball that sits in the mid-90s, and has been seen up to 98mph. His change up is considered by many as his best pitch, and he throws it in the mid 80's and it's very hard to pick up out of his hand. His curveball is pretty non-existent right now, defintitley not a plus pitch yet, but it does have some movement and he throws it in the high 70's. He projects as a #2 out of college. 3-AUSTIN MEADOWS – OF – 6’3 – 200 LBS -- 18 YEARS OLD Meadows and Frazier are practically tied on many boards a product of their similar skill sets and same home state, but Frazier’s raw power intrigues me more than Meadows even 5 tools. Meadows is, like Frazier, a projectable high school outfielder with crazy bat potential, but with less power and more speed. I would be thrilled with Meadows if he ends up with the Jays, because he’s a very projectable corner-outfielder with 5 tools. 4-RYNE STANEK – RHP – 6’4 – 190 LBS -- 22 YEARS OLD This near-23 year old has fallen on some draft boards, and is truly a wildcard, meaning he could go anywhere in the first half of the draft. Stanek’s a projectable right hander with a mid-90s fastball that’s been seen up to 97. The slider is lethal at times, but is seen as inconsistent. Also shows a curve and change, both in progress, but could turn into solid offerings. The fear that his all-out effort delivery could force him into the bullpen could let him slip down in the draft, right onto the Jays’ lap if they wish to select him. 5-TREY BALL – LHP/OF – 6’6 – 180 LBS -- 18 YEARS OLD Ball has been continuously linked with the Jays according to Keith Law of ESPN and others. He seems like the most likely pick at 10. He has played two positions effectively, but I believe most prefer him, and his 6’6 frame, as a starting pitcher. As a lefty in the mid-low-90s with the fastball that can touch 96 out of high school, with a tight breaking curve (with a lack of experience with the pitch), there is much to love. Ball projects as a #2 starter (maybe even better), with the OF as a backup plan, if he was to need it. His mechanics are said to be very smooth and repeatable, something the Jays sure could use in their system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Line represents where, if I was drafting the Jays’ pick would be located. Meaning one of the other four would be mildly disappointing, unless the pick is paid under slot value, giving the Jays more money to buy high on a second rounder. 6-PHIL BICKFORD – RHP – 6’4 – 185 LBS -- 17 YEARS OLD Bickford, like Stanek is a wild card. I, unfortunately, don’t know as much as I’d like to about Bickford. From the videos and reports I’ve seen, the fastball hits 97 and the slider has large break with big swing and miss potential. He throws from an unorthodox ¾ arm slot that makes his slider that much better, but also very inconsistent. He has top of the rotation potential, but has a long way to go, especially with the interesting mechanics possessed by the young right hander. 7-REESE MCGUIRE – C – 6’1 – 190 LBS -- 18 YEARS OLD McGuire is a defense-first catcher, with room to grow at the plate. Some say he could catch in the big leagues at this moment—if it didn’t mean he had to hit. His elite defense is highly touted, and it only takes one team to believe in a decent bat to grab him early on, including the Jays. The track record of HS prep catchers is not good, to say the least, so risk is a huge factor here. 8-DOMINIC SMITH – 1B – 6’ – 195 LBS -- 18 YEARS OLD Smith is a gold glove caliber 1B (ok), with bat potential to follow (obviously). Smith has been linked to the Jays, but I personally don’t see how they pass on at least three of the players ahead of him on this list. I also doubt the Jays could sign a high-school student with college commitments for under slot value, despite the possible overdraft. 9-JP CRAWFORD – SS – 6’2 – 180 LBS -- 18 YEARS OLD Personally, I DO NOT want the Jays to select Crawford. He’s nothing special, and is only rated so high because there is literally no other SS with a chance to make the big leagues in this draft. There are guys I prefer over Crawford (minimally), but Crawford has been linked to the Jays, whereas others like Hunter Renfroe have not. Crawford isn’t a stand out in the field or with the bat. This is the one guy that I would be utterly disappointed with the Jays drafting, even if he signs under slot value. For more info on the Draft, check out the latest episode of the BJP Podcast, where Gideon and Ewan talked with Jeremy Nygaard about the players the Jays might take. The Jays aren't the ones to forgive though. If Boras isn't willing to play nice with the Jays it's best to avoid him. There should be some belief that he'll do best for his client but Boras has advised clients to do odd things before. Manaea and Stanek were both ranked in the top 3 pre-season...they probably don't kill themselves by going back but I don't see them getting back into that top 3 equation.

It's not about paying. Boras will not deal with the Jays if possible. He blames Beeston for purposely screwing over Paxton (which I agree with).

High schoolers made sense when the farm was looking good, we had lots of picks and money to spend. Now it might make more sense to look for a college bat who is closer to ready. However, the two best bats are looking like they will be gone and DJP while I love his swing, the questions of whether he is more of a product of the stadium leaves enough questions to not take him at 10. So I would take the most advanced of the high school bats...which is Frazier from everything I've read. I do really believe that Meadows is our pick though.

I can't believe that the draft is 7:00 start. I turned down golfing with a beautiful lady on Thursday.

I just stole it from some chicks list that I found online, changed a few around and then added my own commentary. But I stand behind my list. My ex wife love Street and she hated ball players. I trust her opinion in men http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2010/08/21/hustonstreet_20100821171745_600_400.JPG

C: JPA (Mauer probably deserves it but JPA has to win something. 1B: Michael Cuddyer (there aren't a lot of good looking 1B's. 2B: Baseball's best looking position. Cano, Utley, Ackley all could grab this spot but who hasn't been lost in Sean Rodriquez's eyes. 3B: If it ain't Wright it's not right. SS: Jeter...and you are sent home with a parting gift. LF: Super Sam Fuld...every list needs a Heb CF: Justin Maxwell, square jawed RF: Jeff Francouer, someone has to be on the list to make JPA not the worst player SP: Wainwright RP: Street

I love Strasburg but no way would I start a franchise with him. Of course I'm probably not starting my franchise with pitchers.
-
1. Keith Law (David Price): Oscar Taveras. KLaw knows a few things about prospects, and Taveras was his No. 2 guy entering the season, after the already chosen Jurickson Profar. 32. Manny Acta (Jose Bautista): Matt Moore. Bautista is a win-now type of building block, but so is Moore, a 24-year-old with terrific stuff, hasn't been overworked and has as good a chance as anybody to be the best pitcher in baseball over the next five years. 33. Eric Karabell (Andrelton Simmons). Carlos Gonzalez. Defense in Round 1, offense in Round 2. And even if this mythical team doesn't play its home games at Coors Field, note that CarGo is hitting better on the road this season. 34. Jonah Keri (Joe Mauer): Madison Bumgarner. Hard to believe that he doesn't turn 24 until August, but he already has two World Series rings and two 200-inning seasons. He's so efficient that he should be a 200-inning guy for years to come. 35. Scott Spratt (Felix Hernandez): Jean Segura. I'll admit I considered Segura late in Round 1, but instead opted for the elite defense of Simmons. Segura won't hit .350 all year, but he's not a bad pick at this spot. 36. Jim Bowden (Stephen Strasburg): Jordan Zimmermann. Hey, don't blame Strasburg and Zimmermann for the Nationals' problems this year! Jim was the Nationals' GM when the club selected him in the second round of the 2007, so he's happy to snag him again. 37. Paul Swydan (Jurickson Profar): Matt Wieters. Build teams up the middle! Wieters remains a building-block player, despite a slow start to 2013. 38. Curt Schilling (Shelby Miller): Paul Goldschmidt. Too early for a first baseman? Maybe, but Goldschmidt is more than just a slugger. He's an elite defender at first, swipes some bases, and at 25 is entering his prime years. 39. Mark Simon (David Wright): Zack Wheeler. Well, Mark is, after all, a Mets fan. And pretty soon Wheeler will have many fans. 40. Justin Havens (Ryan Braun): Prince Fielder. A relatively safe pick considering Fielder's durability and on-base skills. Plus, Justin can now watch that 2011 Brewers highlight DVD that has been collecting dust. 41. Orel Hershiser (Justin Upton): Adam Wainwright. OK, so maybe the Cardinals right-hander has never tossed 59 consecutive scoreless innings, but he's pretty good. 42. David Schoenfield (Troy Tulowitzki): Miguel Sano. Prospects are overrated! Plus, Sano is only in Class A ball, you say? Sure, but he'll be in Double-A soon, putting him on track for a midseason promotion to the Twins in 2014. And then my future third baseman will start winning home run titles. 43. Mike Greenberg (Matt Kemp): Chris Davis. Well, at least one of these sluggers is healthy and producing. And Davis does look legit. 44. Mike Golic (Dustin Pedroia): Elvis Andrus. With that double-play duo behind them, the pitchers on Golic's team will be very happy pitchers. Well, assuming the outfield doesn't consist of Raul Ibanez, Lucas Duda and Mike Morse. 45. Richard Durrett (Justin Verlander): Adam Jones. This elite center fielder looks even better than his breakout 2012. 46. Christina Kahrl (Jason Heyward): Xander Bogaerts. He probably doesn't stick at shortstop, but he's going to hit at whatever position he plays. Plus, his name starts with an X, and he'll be better than Xavier Nady. 47. Buster Olney (Robinson Cano): Clay Buchholz. Olney got a close-up look at Buchholz on Sunday night at Yankee Stadium, and had to be impressed. Perhaps he can build an entire fake team with all Yankees and Red Sox. 48. Dan Szymborski (Yu Darvish): Carlos Santana. We're not privy to the super secret ZiPS projection system that Dan keeps stored in a bank vault somewhere in Maryland, but we have to think it likes a catcher with power and on-base skills. 49. Jon Sciambi (Giancarlo Stanton): Yasiel Puig. Could be 80 home runs from this duo in 2014. Or, we suppose, fewer. 50. Mike Petriello (Andrew McCutchen): Yadier Molina. Talk about building up the middle. Molina turns 31 in July and caught a lot of games before turning 30, so there's risk that he won't hold up. But he's the kind of guy you take a risk on. 51. C.J. Nitkowski (Joey Votto): Austin Jackson. Terrific center fielder and leadoff hitter could have gone in the first round. It's tougher to find an all-around center fielder than a first baseman. 52. Alex Cora (Miguel Cabrera): Chris Sale. Some believe he's an arm injury waiting to happen, but there's no denying he's one of the best starters in the game. 53. Tim Kurkjian (Matt Harvey): Wil Myers. One future Cy Young winner is set, and here comes the prototypical slugging right fielder to join him. If the Rays would just cooperate and promote him. 54. Jim Caple (Yoenis Cespedes): Matt Cain. We know Caple loves those West Coast guys, so let's give him Cain, who is still just 28. Don't overreact to his current 5+ ERA. He'll be fine. 55. Dave Cameron (Evan Longoria): Mike Zunino. Mariners fan gets the next great Mariner. Thought about giving him Dustin Ackley or Jesus Montero, picks from last season, but that seemed a bit unfair. 56. Molly Knight (Clayton Kershaw): Cole Hamels. What's wrong with Hamels? As with Cain, let's not overreact to two subpar months. A rotation with these two lefties would look pretty sweet. 57. Jayson Stark (Buster Posey): Jose Fernandez. Future ace has certainly impressed as a rushed rookie this season. 58. Aaron Boone (Manny Machado): Starling Marte. He's playing left field for the Pirates, but could easily move to center, giving Aaron two elite young defenders who have some ability at the plate as well. 59. Doug Glanville (Bryce Harper): Starlin Castro. What a fall from grace! A year ago the Chicago Cubs shortstop was the ninth overall selection in Round 1. Now he barely gets chosen at all. I have to admit, he doesn't seem to be growing at the plate or in the field, but Glanville probably has more patience. 60. Jerry Crasnick (Mike Trout): Mark Appel. Jerry loves Dylan Bundy, but he was just recently cleared to start throwing for the first time since late March. So let's go off the board and give him a guy who hasn't even started his professional career yet. Thanks us later, Jerry.

I'm pretty sure if I can choose I team I'd want to be in a division with it's Curt Schilling...or the chick.

Jonathan Gray tests positive for Adderall
TheHurl replied to Dr. Dinger's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
only player I know for sure is Andres Torres as he has talked about his ADHD. The list of TUE's are not released or else everyone would know who is the one player who has the Hypogonadism TUE. -
NH's next 6 are on TV. Stroman should have 2 starts in the stretch. I'll try and give a good assessment of where he is.

116 players in the MLB have an exemption but it looks like there is a small crackdown going on. http://articles.philly.com/2012-11-28/sports/35412845_1_adderall-xr-adhd-adderall-prescriptions http://deadspin.com/5964744/1-in-10-mlb-players-took-adderall-this-season
