  1. I'm out of town this weekend but I'll be there for my pick I'm sure.
  2. CMW...I actually like this one. Isn't striking anyone out (10.5% that's 3.88/9) but he's not walking anyone either. Hopefully we provide some D behind him...we have to for him toh have any success.
  3. I'd understand it more if they weren't paying them based on what they would have got if they were healthy.
  4. Ledbetter is married already...big mistake by the Rangers, everyone should know he's now on the downside.
  5. One guy on the upswing...and two guys that would have went higher if they were allowed to be drafted as 16/17 year olds. It's no different than our pro scouting...they love the former top picks who haven't had success.
  6. I think we are over slot on our first two and this pick you'd have to figure they have a pre draft deal with Murphy but it's still an Oregon commit...that's not going to be hugely underslot even with the TJS
  7. That Perfect game report from the Arizona by State is the only report I could find too.
  8. Sox take Denney. Can they get it done.
  9. Denney, Jones, Serrano and Sandberg are the highest ranked. Many of the high school guys at this point.
  10. Stewart goes before Wahl...Ole Miss is shocked
  11. Day 2 Coverage is so awful.
  12. Houston...we have a problem
  13. They've loved Jays last 3 drafts...maybe this is a good sign
  14. As I posted on Stoeten's latest blog. Here are the numbers for success rate of high school pitchers drafted in the first round from 1990 to 2006: Of the 153 High School pitchers drafted from 1990, 102 have provided less than 1 bWAR. Only 11 have provided more than 20 bWAR of those 11 just Halladay and CC have provide more than 50 bWAR. The context of that number means less without knowing the College pitcher and hitter numbers but I know that it's better as I've read the research. Eventually I'll get the numbers for every round. It's tough to weed out the non signee's though.
  15. Hey I just thought about this...someone owes me $20 for Appel going number 1. Who was that?
  16. I've seen both now...I really like Urias a lot more. Might just be that he's not a bad body guy though. When I watch Osuna I think "He doesn't look 17", I saw Urias and I thought "this guy would be the number 1 pick if he were a high schooler", he looks his age but pitches like a guy that's 20 at least
  17. So was I the only one that got it right?
  18. BA top 50 picks remaining. 25. Denney wanted $3M from what I understood. Arkansas Commit 34. Jones -UVA commits tend to be tough signs, ACE was saying that he told teams not to draft him. 35. Serrano - Dad is the UT coach. Got to figure he'll be a tough (impossible) sign 36. Wahl - As I said earlier I don't get it. Has done everything Ole Miss asked him to do, throws hard has okay secondary stuff. Could be a mislabel situation as scouts peg him as a Reliever because he works 97 from the pen, but seldom breaks 92 as a starter. To me that makes him a smart pitcher...I think teams are making a mistake here unless there is an injury concern that I haven't heard about. 40. Sandberg (QB commitment to Mississippi State should be a tough sign) 49. Masek - Like Wahl was projected to be a reliever, then suddenly he showed great stuff as a starter. Had a shoulder injury which I'm sure is causing him to drop as well. I think it's another "scouts don't like him" pick.
  19. Cord Sandberg to finish the first day?
  20. Balog...all about the size. Saw him pitch against Stanford early in the year.
  21. PG top 50 players remaining. 23. Denney 39. Wahl 43. Connor Jones 45. Boldt (pure athlete...I bet he goes soon but if not I think the Twins take him) 46. Andrew Mitchell (another bullpen guy most likely)
  22. Don't completely understand Bobby Wahl dropping...easy sign great makeup. Yes he'll be a reliever but he'll be moving quickly. It's not like he doesn't have the stuff, throwing 104 K's with a low 90's FB as a starter but then in the showcases in the summer hit 97 often as a reliever
  23. Guy committed two years ago...just can't see him signing. But who knows. I do love the Thong Song so I have to like a Sisco pick
  24. Great looking draft for the Rays.
  25. Didn't the Pirates do this last year too...just keep taking tough sign overslot guys without ever pooching picks.
