  1. I already picked him up and had to be told...damn deep minor league drafts.
  2. Time machine might help. The reason you aren't getting a lot of discussion about who will help this team is that so many on this board don't believe in the front office and we have so few trade chips that aren't huge parts of the team. Things this team will do next year: Add a starter, Macier to 25th man and make a decision at catcher. Hopefully they have a little more depth which was one of the issues this year. However, I still don't think this is a playoff team. If we want to make this into a playoff team I believe they have to trade producing, well-liked veteran players and deal with the consequences at the box office . An even bigger priority this off season is talking extension with Rasmus, if he won't sign you have to start looking at his market. Stop this dealing with one year ********, start running this organization properly and looking at next year and the future years.
  3. mistakes, which he continues to make plenty of, are greatly impacted in a small sample size.
  4. I happen to think the Jays could be much better set up this year than they were last year...I just have no faith in this org to do the right moves (which my beliefs are closer to standing pat then most around here think). Still don't think they will make the playoffs but potential starting pitching depth = better set up.
  5. I've always laughed at the comeback that people that follow advanced stats watch the game differently. Even the most saber fan won't look at a nice defensive and say "wow he made that play in UZR zone 56" they just see a nice play
  6. As a recreational sports player in Toronto the Argos trying to find a new home sucks as they will probably end up in one of the facilities I play in Varsity or Lamport. I'd be okay with the Argos moving out to the suburbs but sorry it will probably kill the attendance.
  7. this board better get some credit/links
  8. You do know that many people here watch minor league games right? I'll admit that people here are quick to make assumptions without seeing a player but then there are 100 times more fans that see a player for a very short time and make way bigger assumptions.
  9. anyone sense JPA will be the hero here...nope me either
  10. no, no you don't
  11. Blue Jays starters have given up more runs than Astros starters...Twins more than them both
  12. for the record Donaldson is quite slow.
  13. I kind of like it when I'm right...and after being ripped in the off-season last year by a lot of people I feel like the entire season justified my comments. So there's that.
  14. There are people that are telling him that what he's doing is okay...so of course he's going to have these f***ed up stupid thoughts. The away splits are still insane how bad they are... .147/.188/.261. That's 229 Plate appearances of an 18 wRC ball. Jays are middle of the pack in runs scored on the road, put me in there and they score 313 at least.
  15. He's not even the worst still active...Reynolds plays more 1B but he's much worse at 3B
  16. positional adjustment is included in the OWAR calculation as well
  17. we went through this last year too...all the Cabrera supporters took the Trout choice to mean that people were saying Cabrera was s***. Cabrera is an incredible hitter, no one can (or at least should ) deny this. I'd also like to add that B-Ref's Offensive WAR (Sean Smith's calculation I believe) takes defense out of the question and Trout is at 9.6 and Cabrera 8.7.
  18. how can you talk in such strong terms when you admit you don't actually watch games outside of the Jays. Donaldson was a first round pick, had a career .834 OPS in the minors who played 5 different positions each of his last 3 years in the minors and in total only played 79 games at third in the minors...his bat was never in question it was his transition from catching back to the infield that he played in college. He also was the main piece in the Rich Harden deal...he had his struggles and yes his numbers being this good are surprising but to think that this guy was never expected to carry a big bat is a huge mistake, it's the D that is the bigger surprise here.
  19. I think there is a possibility that Castellanos might be a really bad 3B too. The issue isn't about what's the smart move though...in this case it's about keeping Miggy happy. There is a strong possibility he becomes a huge issue if they move him to DH.
  20. I'll say it...the Tigers are better off with Santiago at 3rd and Cabrera at DH than Cabrera at 3B and VMart at DH.
  21. Steak dinners go a long way towards recognition...that's been proven over the years.
  22. flip MVP to actually mean "Most Valuable to their team" who do you give it to? Donaldson hands down for me...with a 23 Win starting staff truly you could have the Astros offense behind the Tigers and still win.
  23. The Indians should be selling high was my thought. A further slap in the face when they turn Gomes into a season of Headley and then sign one of the FA catchers that the fans here are fappin' to
  24. If he really is making all baseball decisions would that mean that the Marlins owner is a better GM than ours?
