  1. Burns has learned the Jays walk to first before the umps call...it's good to see consistency within an org
  2. I have three papers to write but my head is about to explode, so I thought I'd hit my friends at the unofficial Rays board to see what the prediction is for the Price deal (which is 100% going to happen, if for no other reason...I'm seldom wrong). I'm really struggling to think of who is already on the hook for a deal, although they will probably wait until the Tanaka posting happens. My very first thought was the Nationals with Rendon heading to the Rays but I'm not 100% sure the Nationals want to create any new holes. Maybe the Rays include Sean Rodriguez and get Giolito and Rendon.
  3. Also with Burke...last 3 years between the minors and major against RH hitters: 128.2 IP 34 BB 133 K's He's a righty specialist, he's kind of a bullpen version of Todd Redmond. Of course it would be just as easy to make Redmond a bullpen version of Todd Redmond
  4. which is completely wiped out by his declining defense and declining speed. He had to put up an .810 OPS against lefties to squeak above replacement level. When he doesn't repeat those numbers (which he won't) and the defense and running decline further due to age...he'll be at least a full win under replacement level with equal PA's next year.
  5. AA loves relievers who throw Sinkers. Simple as that.
  6. once again...if you are convincing a guy not to retire and take your contract you don't cut him. They are paying him to face lefties (which he isn't terrible at) but the annoying thing here is that they don't realize that there are probably guys in their own minors that can actually play D and hit better against lefties. So essentially they are paying him to babysit Lawrie again
  7. Still have a lot of decisions to make C - Santana 1B - Pujols 2B - Infante SS - Segura 3B - Longoria OF - Fowler OF - Beej OF - Saunders Util - Seager Bench - Mesoraco, Rollins, Morales SP1 - Wainwright SP2 - Miley SP3 - Lohse SP4 - Wood SP5 - Eovaldi SP6 - Milone RP1 - Soriano RP2 - Allen On the outside looking in. Storen, Lake, Youk, Collmenter, McGee, Maness, Hawkins (a relief corp that carried me all year) Guarantee this list will change 100 times before February, the relievers I'm dropping are all under 28 except for Hawkins.
  8. A note on the bottom of his player card. "Would acquire"
  9. His big schtick on the old board was being negative against the team and front office...if that gets you a ban around here these days, we wouldn't have a board anymore
  10. in most cases we just make sure the IP addresses match then ban or sit back and watch. It's also possible that this poster was told he could reply and not start threads.
  11. everyone does pre-draft deals though, this stuff shouldn't happen unless you are trying to punt the pick into a pick the next year (like they did with Bickford this year).
  12. this is much more of a statement on the weakness of the Appy this year.
  13. The MLB rulebook mentions one example in the obstruction section it states OBSTRUCTION is the act of a fielder who, while not in possession of the ball and not in the act of fielding the ball, impedes the progress of any runner. If a fielder is about to receive a thrown ball and if the ball is in flight directly toward and near enough to the fielder so he must occupy his position to receive the ball he may be considered "in the act of fielding a ball." It is entirely up to the judgment of the umpire as to whether a fielder is in the act of fielding a ball. After a fielder has made an attempt to field a ball and missed, he can no longer be in the "act of fielding" the ball. For example: an infielder dives at a ground ball and the ball passes him and he continues to lie on the ground and delays the progress of the runner, he very likely has obstructed the runner.
  14. Nice job Cards, taken the crowds right out of this game. I haven't seen this many Bostonian's with their heads down since they were looking for lost limbs at the Marathon. Too Soon? Sorry I really hate James Taylor
  15. f*** I hate their stupid f***ing fans...not the ones at the game the 3 that f***ing well texted me as soon as that happened.
  16. Posted my trade block. I can warn you that I won't be quick to reply these days. I'll re-post here and underline those That I NOT looking to move. Already two people interested in Pujols, I'll be moving him most likely but I see the Steamer projections...be prepared to pay for those kinds of numbers or somewhere in between his 2013 and those
  17. Love that deal for BTS. Braun will come back and be Braun IMO. Harvey won't touch the field again until 2015. Honestly I thought Harvey's value would be much closer to a top 100 or so bat. Boxy should have offered Braun around better, I don't have any young talent but I would have made a move for Braun.
  18. I didn't say he was the top search on Fox Sports page.
  19. Serious question cause I've been lost a bit on baseball outside of the playoffs...why is Santos the number one search on fangraphs right now? Did I miss a rumour or something about him?
  20. They are cloning one?
  21. Every casual fan and our casual front office just had a heart attack
  22. Prospect status probably better than his real value...in the end he's a flyball pitcher that's going to end up pitching in Colorado. 2014 draft is one of my favourite in years (for pitchers)...especially if Touki gives a reasonable price tag. Rodon's the best I've seen since Strasburg. Beede and Cederoth would have been top 10 in this years draft and can move up to elite if they show any control improvement. Burdi could have a top ten fastball in the majors right now...but how early can you take a reliever?
