  1. I'll be happy with my number 5 pick no matter what happens in front of me
  2. i had forgot about that one. For some reason he was a PTBNL in that deal. Zane Smith kicked ass for the Pirates though
  3. My own fault for throw bait out for the Kalfish. First off lets stop pretending the Kalfus won the NCAA D1 batting title. He had the 26th best batting average in college. Jason Radwan hit .409 in his senior year with the Bonnies and he's now an assistant coach. Rob Dickinson batted .334 for his college career at VMI, including .399 his senior year when Kalfus hit .381, didn't get drafted and is now out of baseball. You want a direct historical example? Mark Teahen at St. Mary's .412/.493/.624 (as a junior). He went to Vancouver that year and went .404/.454/.526. My point is that there are players that hit .381 in college and it doesn't mean anything at all. Enjoy cheering him...but stop spreading lies about his accomplishments. Know your facts
  4. Expos made trades based on finances first...they got lucky in trading Deshields for Pedro. Rays make baseball moves with keeping their financial restraints in mind. Name another great trade the Expos made in the late 80's or early 90's?
  5. Kal from the right side last year... .234/.327/.319. Kal away from Nat Bailey last year .218/.282/.336 I don't mind the fandom, have fun with cheering him along but at least stop pretending he hit at all after June last year.
  6. no the Expos were a horribly run franchise from the top to the bottom.
  7. I think they are coming up short too...but this is pretty much the exact team that they were going in with last year, with more depth in starting pitching. If anyone believed in them last year (which head office more than did, they mortgaged our future and put their future on the line) then they are sure to think this team can recover and contend. To not play for the playoffs with this payroll and the age of the team would be completely stupid and even more crippling to the fanbase. Everything that is happening right now is exactly the stuff that was mentioned last year when asked "what if it doesn't work, what's plan B" (to which all but a few people said, no way it'll fail or he'll rebuild the farm again...which we knew wouldn't happen as this would kill the casuals). The answer is and was there is no plan B so you have to hope that all things fall into place now and they have a 2012 O's kind of season. Which probably means making the most out of your pitchers with options. I know you don't ever care about the casual fanbase and a team more concerned about putting butts in the seats in comparison to setting themselves up for the future. But truthfully your way is "fantasy" real world you have take fans into consideration. The unfortunate part with this F.O. is that (IMO) they forgot about baseball (or never knew a thing about it in the first place) completely and played to selling tickets.
  8. "he teams and order were determined by the organization’s overall success and how economically they got there." Depends on your definition of economics. Rays have less to work with but I'm pretty their bottom line still isn't great in comparison to the Sox. Overall I thought it was a really poorly written.
  9. No way management or anyone should be thinking this way, it's just not done and certainly not with a $150M payroll team. A understand putting guys in the minors who have the options. I don't even mind the Jays optimizing innings by using lots of minor league options (saving the pen).
  10. He threw 120 innings in 2012 (College and Pro) and got a late start last year with the suspension. Arm strength really shouldn't be an issue. He averaged over 6.333 innings a start after July 1st, including an 8 inning gem where he was hitting his top speed in the 7th on September 2nd last year.
  11. I don't trust the powers that be to make a decision so I named my team successor in my will.
  12. Dunedin Blue Jays We have an opening for Spring Training bat boy! If you have full availability this Spring, e-mail zac.phelps@bluejays.com today
  13. Alex Gonzalez was one for me...number 4 prospect in all of baseball and a winning smile. Of course I predicted multiple MVP's for Snider. Felipe Lopez was another I was super high on.
  14. Hard to be disappointed by someone you should have had zero expectations of. On a Baycats sidenote I just recently turned down the thirdbase coach job with them (tough to call it a job when it's unpaid I suppose)
  15. Yan Hall of Fame Gomes
  16. I think I'm owed one too. Nothing to do with this league...just somehow I feel I'm owed one.
  17. Just got a bunch of college video. Jameis Winston looked pretty impressive in getting a 6 out save. Only struck out one but hit 96 on the gun. Most impressive starter I hadn't heard of that I've seen so far was Matt Imhof from Cal Poly. Former Jays picks Beede and Nola were impressive in their season debuts. Trying hard to get tape of the UNLV/CMU game, Supposedly Eric Fedde was rolling in a battle against probable first 2 rounders.
  18. he wants you to post actual predictions instead of constantly claiming that you knew something after the fact. Is that clear?
  19. where are we supposed to submit our drop lists to?
  20. I'd bet the house on all the bets if I could find someone willing to take over under action on the 2012 season.
  21. I posted the 16 last minute trades I made, and I insist that the powers that be process them before I make my drops
  22. For the record the two teams this year posted at 10 wins more than last year are the White Sox and San Fran. Honestly I'd struggle to bet the under on either one even though history says to do so.
  23. Just found an old tweet from 2012 that I had. I guess people should have listened to me. I know I picked the Jays for an under last year on the other board but it's so hard to search on that thing now. and the stats remain...teams that are picked to increase their win total by 10 or more hit the under over 90% of the time.
  24. Getting rid of some terrible contracts - amazing job even if it's possible (probable) that other GM's bailed him out on those. Check You forgot extended several players to team friendly contracts. Great job, check! As for building the top 5 farm. I loved the farm and what he did but people have to remember that he traded a top 5 player in baseball to get three of those top 100 prospects (three top 100's usually lands you in the top 10 anyway). There is a chance that he acquired Lawrie because he's Canadian. He gets stuck on athleticism over baseball ability and then the raw high school arms. Honestly the draft style gets to me but in a way it might be a new inefficiency. Prospect sites and fans love the raw undeveloped arms...it's still true now. But with about a 3% (don't have my data on me so will correct this if I'm wrong) of high school arms from the first 5 rounds making any impact it seems that if you are going to draft them you probably should trade them. You just shouldn't include major league rookies, top catching prospects, undervalued malcontents, and defensive CF's with some potential with the bat.
  25. one of the girls from Big Brother named Britney
