  1. Didn't see if anyone posted this (I'm sure it was) but Joe who's been coaching the Windsor Stars for a few years now, is taking over for Morris. I've met Joe several times at the Green and Gold Classic that I work at. He also is the nephew of my old HR manager. Interesting and super nice guy, lost his son less than a month ago (Kevin was the best pitcher at our tournament two years ago). He's an interesting choice for sure.
  2. You appear to be new here, so I'll try and reel things in before you make comments to where you can't make an Adam Greenwood'esk return. Most of what you've been saying has been talked about length around here. The Jays appear to be very poor at development...and players that leave the organization appear to improve certain (most) stats. You are making up stats when it comes to development of other teams (http://www.mlbdepthcharts.com/how-assembled-tracker/) so people are going to get defensive about you...it screams potential troll.
  3. and traditionalists will instantly respond with "who cares how far the OF ran to get to the ball, just enjoy the game". Like knowledge is somehow never fun.
  4. Half a season is "much time"
  5. again I go back to evaluation/philosophical issues. Again I go back to K-rates. Every single hitter we moved cut their K-rates.
  6. so this isn't at all about anything with the Jays this is about you.
  7. Rays have developed 13 of the 39 players on their current roster (9 pitchers, 4 hitters). Jays have developed 15 of the 40 on their team (9 pitchers, 6 hitters)
  8. Jays issue might be that they can't evaluate talent, and/or have philosophical issues with what it takes to be a successful player.
  9. So much of what we knew about players from that era was what the media wanted to portray, I heard plenty of bad stories in the 80's when I had a friend working there as a bat boy (Galen Cisco was his godfather), and it was George Bell that got all the bad press. However, according to the stories he was very much a family man, whereas Barfield and McGriff were huge womanizers. Now we don't exactly see the personal lives of the players but we have a better picture of it. Also we occasionally get a "I saw ____ at a bar with _____" figuring out what is true is never easy but at least we are forming our own opinions not just getting the leaked stories
  10. it will do so much towards removing myths and poor perceptions. I love seeing that Heyward catch off the Turner hit last year and seeing that Reed Johnson was only 1.8 feet further away at the point of contact. Heyward got there and Johnson wasn't even in the screen (not that I thought there was anything close in breaking speed between Heyward and Johnson). There is always those comments like "Rasmus got a horrible jump on that" would be amazing to be able to someday throw up the video and say guess that was wrong.
  11. I select Sean Marshall. I didn't email the next person I'm sorry but I'm at work in 3 hours and 10 minutes

Stewart on his way to the Sens I hear
  13. At least he didn't "thanks" the post before reporting and posting asking for a ban this time. When it comes to public relations on the board Ang > King
  14. that was his "I actually have a girlfriend" message. Next he'll be trying to tell us he's not Asian
  15. I think it would be fun to start a huge campaign for Bautista now that he's eliminated
  16. Can I suggest this as a starting point
  17. it was Paco vs. Siegrist for me. Lefties rack up holds...I chose Paco just because lefties can't even touch him (.188 wOBA in 112 batters faced). Turns out that he might end up starting the season in the minors now though, so I think I chose wrong

  19. not that I can see. I had a message 11 hours ago from Cat ass asking if I'd move the pick. My own fault for reading his message and not jumping on to see when that pick was up. 3 exams and 20 hours at work since Monday is my excuse.
  20. I guess I shouldn't have bitched about the 60 texts, Emails and PM's I got for my first pick. At least I didn't lose out on Paco. I have notified Speedy Gose that he is up.
  21. he's a value now...would only cost AA one of the top arms.
  22. would it be more relevant to start a thread on how Chase d'Arnaud would be a 2B upgrade for the Jays? As for people over-reacting...it's part of messageboards. Such as the guy who thanked a post...and then reported it the same day, right King?
  23. Just read the first page and will pick up the rest later. The issue with changing draft systems is that someone always finds away around the new rules. Someone said that no player is going to take a $100K cut to play with a good org. Might be true. But what player won't take a $500K cut to have a guaranteed 40 man spot within a year (the Chris Sale bonus). Would a last place team want to rush their prospects like this...probably not but a Cardinals or others might.
  24. I can't stand the "it's been this way for years" mentality. I've gone through this argument with people in football, hockey and even other baseball arguments. I'd just kick Zaun in the groin and say that no one will care as his groin region is essentially the JPA of groins.
