  1. I can't criticize the FO when they have done exactly what I suggested for this off-season. Tweak but mainly let it ride and hope and pray. If it doesn't work you lessened the damage for the future FO.
  2. So much has changed since I started watching ball. We almost never saw west coast teams on TV (except the Dodgers that would dominate the Saturday broadcasts) and even the Jays and Expos were only on TV about 50% of their games. So we'd end up forming our opinion based off of announcers (and trust me they haven't got worse, they lacked knowledge just as much or more than they do today). I remember getting into an argument in the 80's with a Yankees fan who said that Randolph was the best defensive 2B. I laughed him off stating that he's never even won a gold glove. Instead I argued for Ryno, Whitaker or Frank White. The thing is that we didn't watch too much of these guys and when you hear people talking now about the most underrated defender through an era that was full of great defensive 2B's...Randolph is almost always mentioned. Are the stats skewing our opinions or are the stats off? Unless we are watching video of all of their plays we'll truly never know. However I have to say that I can't think of one other player from the 80's and 90's that I considered a great fielder that scores poorly on the metrics. Really only Alomar!
  3. I remember this discussion last year before the season. It was pretty much one against all on the other side.
  4. When he was in Toronto he used always talk about how he really wanted to be a baseball player and how until he turned 16 he was a better pitcher than basketball player.
  5. O's signed Jomar Reyes and Carlos Diaz. Probably the two best international FA's left
  6. Master spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApxnEA8FGLc0dFMyd0NPaGRacE1sM21pV2owZEtlR0E&usp=sharing#gid=0
  7. If there wasn't the AA or higher rule there is one I'd be taking with the 5th pick if he got there.
  8. They add people all the time upon multiple requests. Those that procrastinate...win
  9. So stupid that when you try to sort by h/AB that they delete those that haven't had an AB yet. That would have been the easiest way to search (at least before the rosters are entered)
  10. Minnesota makes complete sense for him. Suppresses HR's for lefties and they don't even have one in the rotation right now unless Scott Diamond recovers. Could assure him a trade to contender with a good start too.
  11. SABR nominees are up...TIPS was robbed
  12. Aaron Hill playing the Phoenix Open and his teammates show up with giant heads.
  13. Cause you banned him last time he said something like that to you? For the record he has started a thread in the mod forum asking what his punishment should be. P.S. BTS you really are an ass.
  14. I do need another 3B to go with my other 3 for 2015

Poor guy...will be similar someday when Collins gets a save
  16. I quite like Johnson. I was hoping that North was going to cut him and I'd take him in the waiver draft. He's going to get righties out in the majors, he just has to limit the damage from lefties. I'd expect this to follow with trade messages from him but he never offers players on his team.
  17. Everything I hear is that it's the other way around. Boras won't deal with the Jays until Beeston is gone. Beeston was upset over the Paxton dealings and Boras feels he purposely cost Paxton his senior year. Bush league move by a bush league executive. And Boras isn't breaking rules, every single person has an "adviser". The NCAA rules are awful and outdated and somehow some idiot saying he was negotiating with him is different that saying "advising".
  18. For the Jays write up. 24. Toronto Blue Jays It's tough to trade away three top 100 prospects, as the Jays did last winter, and maintain a strong system, but the Jays compounded that problem by failing to sign their first overall pick (Phil Bickford) for the second time in three years. The Jays can afford to trade prospects if they're hitting on high draft picks, but they haven't done so often enough other than the selections they ended up dealing. PS. some of the regular posters like GSnarls and King should be PM'ing me for Wilner's Insider account so they can post this stuff themselves.
  19. I saw two Trenton games live so, my opinion trumps all. And I love f***ing love Gary Sanchez who I'd take over anyone in our farm (and him alone puts the Yanks ahead of us)...but Heathcott will never be more than a 5th OF. Tyler Austin is solid and could still be an everyday valuable guy. Mason Williams has all the talent in the world ... but counting on him to get his act together would be a mistake. I saw Turley pitch one game and I liked his stuff a lot, but he isn't hitting the glove very often.
  20. I've made my opinions on Sano known. He's a top 5 fantasy prospect, top 15 to 20 baseball prospect. I have watched him play defense and there are times where he has no clue. His arm saves him but unless Molitor working on his footwork does wonders for him he'll be bad everywhere he plays. Add in that he's put off surgery and I think that adds even more question marks. Looks like that bottom 5 farm in Boston only produced 6 on the Parks list. Boxy, Winker doesn't make lists cause he's an all out effort guy. Those guys tend not to improve, what you see from him is the max you can expect.
  21. That would be easy "NoOf49 is said to be shopping upwards of 40 players, none of which he owns".
  22. I agree somewhat...but the formula that worked in New York isn't exactly in place anymore. They aren't developing the talent these days...so their non-star spots are being filled by aging replacement level players rather than some controlable upside guys (not to mention that many of their aging players aren't performing as well anymore). They have to get back to back to buy your hitters and develop your pitchers. I like this move for the Yankees from a non-financial stand point but eventually you figure they will have to stop covering up holes with mounds of money
  23. it's been said that Strasburg would have got $150M coming out of college if he was a free agent.
  24. changes my projections for the Yanks as I feel that they lacked pitching depth (they have less need for full health). I really think that they were given a great financial opportunity with the A-Rod suspension and should have taken advantage of it...but it's the Yanks, they really don't need that.
