  1. Midwest League is always one of my faves, seems to be a wealth of future stars there every year. I'd like to see Lansing get cameras (and thus be on MiLB.tv) but at least Dayton, Wisconsin, Great Lakes, Quad City and Western Michigan all have their home games on.
  2. I haven't been to the MLB boards in well over a year...nice upgrade for them. Lets head back
  3. Now picture Ortiz running behind him on this play and falling on top of him.
  4. My MiLB predictions. Jays related Osuna has a career best 44 innings pitched Dwight Smith makes a mid season list One or more of the 2014 Draftees are traded at the deadline Non-Jays Buxton rebounds huge and re-establishes himself as Trout Lite Giolito has another surgery Kyle Schwarber threatens Tim Laudner's Southern League HR record. They keep him in AA to continue to work on his catching Clint Coulter moves into almost all mid-season lists...but they all still refuse to list him at catcher. Miguel Sano returns to over 30% K rates, dropping him out of the top 20 on most lists.
  5. 23 Korean years is like 12 African American years. Ref is just a teenager out there.
  6. Blue Jays related Ryan Goins gets over 200 PA's and is playing in September The Jays will trade for one or both of Chase Utley and Cliff Lee...but Chase blocks the deal. Stroman starts the All Star game Overall Alex Cobb comes second to King Felix in AL Cy voting...Tyson Ross 2nd to Kershaw in the NL MLB suspends a player for the entire season for an off field incident Cubs have the best record in baseball on June 15th, but don't make the playoffs. Royals, White Sox, Tigers are among the most disappointing in baseball and the Indians walk away with the Central.
  7. Asian Mookie Betts http://s27.postimg.org/hunl0ky0z/ref_copy.jpg
  8. Although you traded me Beede. Wasn't Kaminsky (99) my throw in for you to include Beede (134).
  9. Something tells me that Mike Oz has been fat shamed a few times himself.
  10. and they finally have a management team that will force them to put Paco in.
  11. I was coming here to post this pic. I'm old and slow. It's an annual thing for Pablo to show up like this now isn't it.
  12. The Fangraphs list was far more friendly towards prospects than any other so far. Ruiz, Plawecki, Devers and Franco all making top 50. Sisco and Conforto in at 77 and 78. Sims and Beede (112 and 134) were guys that were lower than most lists. I also dropped a top 125 guy and traded a 45+ guy for a nothing pick as he wasn't going to make my 20. As for my others, a little surprised to not see Micah Johnson at least in the 45+ guys. I don't think any prospect did more to damage themselves last year than Rosario, Naquin is a non factor that has zero chance of getting past my June drops and Yohander Mendez is a guy that I wish I watched before picking. His delivery is awful.
  13. I probably didn't need the reminder that I'm becoming my Dad. That's it no more personalized stories. I'm going to take Robot training.
  14. We need to get Ang a budget to investigate these things. I'd chip in if I thought he wouldn't spend it on a hooker for his mule.
  15. Nah, I like the Rays being underrated. Makes it more fun when they have success. I still believe that your opinion on Rays has less to do with analysis, than want. I remember the last year that Sports Interaction allowed parlays on certain futures. I had bet so many win totals. Most of the wagers were on solid analysis...but a bunch of the parlays had the Phillies (who I hate) under in many of them. If just ignored that I would have made 1000's instead of 100's. I take it no one wanted to do the confidence pool on this?
  16. Part of what I just said to King is a joke as I'm traditionally really bad when it comes to prospect pitchers, every so often you just see a guy and say wow though (for me batter wise the biggest was Rendon who I saw in college and he just looked so perfect with the bat) When I first came to the Jays boards in around 2004, I was very old school. What BA said was gospel and almost all my prospect knowledge was from them. When i divorced, I immersed myself into prospect watching. I watched 1000's of hours of games in the minors and college. That lasted from 2010 to 2013. At the same time I had learned more and more about stats from the guys on the boards and that helped in figuring some things out looking at the stats (and as much as he was a running joke on the board, I learned a shitload from Project Prospect and Adam Foster...I would have loved to have a group of us take over that site as it was on to something that others didn't look at). I'd say I learned more about prospects in those three years just because I watched so many games. I'd never suggest that any of you guys do the same method though...watching baseball and playing poker 20 hours a day is not a good life at all. But with knowledge you guys have of baseball stats (which is far beyond what I'll ever have) just watching more baseball you guys will know as much or more than any of these prospect sites.
  17. The best pitcher that wasn't highly on the radar. 2013 that honour went to Urias. Maybe you should listen to me.
  18. I like that BP and Fangraphs don't really do draft coverage as it takes away some of the bias of guys that they incorrectly ranked too high back then. However they are probably a little too much about what players did that season. Not every player that has a bad year should drop right off. Not every player that has a great season will continue with it. In the end they all have their strengths and weaknesses.
  19. That's a two year old assessment that no one will drop (it's no different than the one put on Stroman when he was drafted). People make these assessments and never change them. It's one of the biggest flaws of prospect watching. I'm not saying that he's a sure fire starter but I always like the 20 year old that's coming off a season where they threw 115 innings better than the guy that's has "a starters build" and hasn't thrown more than 50 innings in a season.
  20. Probably CBS's best writer. He came over from FanHouse last year.
  21. I generally prefer unders to overs just because of the injury factor. Is anyone interested in doing a confidence pool (ie. 30 points SD under...down to 1 point Texas over) based on these lines. King or North...can you put this together in a spreadsheet for us please.
  22. Because he really, really wants it to happen. This is how Sportsbooks make money.
  23. Consider yourself lucky. Dinger you want to give me Waiver spot 15 so that I pick 3 in a row. Not offering you anything...just hoping you'll feel sorry for me.
