For me depth is not a body. It's thinking about certain injuries and having a player to place that person in for a short term. Viciedo's upside is one thing, a guy that can hit lefties but he plays a s***** OF and no other positions. Pillar is cheaper, upside is a guy that can hit lefties, play a decent OF and can fill in at CF. Even if they think Pillar is injured, as well as Saunders, it's still a guy that can't play CF. I don't mind any minor league deals but most have seen the M.O. of this front office and think this guy is going to get significant time. Best case scenario for the Jays (Viciedo starting the year like he did last season) is also likely a worst case scenario, as he'll buy himself a lot more playing time.
