  1. he has new found personality...but he's always a mod first.
  2. The money generated from the luxury tax is not distributed to the rest of the league, as is the case with the NBA, but rather is used for other purposes. The first $5 million is withheld to cover potential refunds, and is contributed to the Industry Growth Fund (IGF) if no refunds are forthcoming. The remaining money is divided as follows: 50% funds player benefits, 25% funds developing baseball in countries without high school baseball, and 25% goes to the IGF
  3. 2007 Indians were pretty damn good considering they had to deal with a Cliff Lee mental and baseball breakdown. if he has his 2008 season in 2007 they probably have a plus 150 differential. Again we shouldn't forget that when Shapiro arrived there were 3 starting pitchers on the 40 man.
  4. should have deleted that. it's in poor taste, but my sister is fine. Bad joke, just wanted NJH to feel bad.
  5. I'd love a huge deal. I have a standing offer with someone that they don't counter or respond. As of now all deals are off the table.
  6. sometimes I just need to talk these things through with people. Blame GD and Nox. Actually Nox and I didn't talk baseball at all. But it's fun to blame him for everything.
  7. I did a recount and with these people as my cuts I'm down to just one cut needed. I'm going to hold off on all deals for now and hold off on all deals. My apologies to everyone. CUTS Evan Scribner Sea - RP Jared Hughes Pit - RP Welington Castillo Ari - C Ben Paulsen Col - 1B,OF Michael Bourn Atl - CF Michael Saunders Tor - CF Justin Nicolino Mia - SP Jean Segura Mil - SS Pierce Johnson ChC - SP
  8. some spreadsheet things. Spanky should have Quackenbush and the 81st pick. I have 69.
  9. Yeah I just cut and pasted the whole post. Quack is not part of it
  10. I also used Segura to pursue Kemp, and refused to move him to NJH for something that I'm sure ended up being great. I have no idea how to evaluate talent
  11. All those people who offered me deals when I posted my potential drops...tonight is the best night to get something done reminder of that thread
  12. I think you owe me a BA subscription
  13. never mind I thought Badler was saying 20th of the 22 revealed. Then I realized that they have only revealed 19. I can't think of 10 worse farms though
  14. I agree. But I don't think Pompey moves us up that much but would likely gain us 5 or so spots. Assuming they consider Alford a top 100 guy (I think he will be) having two on the list, without too much depth, probably gets you around 20-25th. With so many good graduations though it's going to be a weak top 100 so i'd think Alford has a shot at top 50 and Pompey would likely be top 25.
  15. no it's the guy that sang Splish Splash and Mack the Knife
  16. you know my sister passed away this year right?
  17. I don't have a subscription anymore...I'm broke
  18. what? there are assumptions made about his D, just based on his Dominican roots. But there are many Dominican's who just don't inspire me in that region
  19. He's also now three years in the org with 420 PA's. He has two years before he becomes Rule 5 fodder, he's shown a good eye and average power at this point. Unless he's a superior defensive catcher, which I'm certainly not going to make an assumption on, he's likely a career minor league guy. Urena is on the correct side of the split (his numbers are way better when he bats left), his K-Rates came down slightly as power went up (and was an 8/8 home/away split) it might not be . It's an encouraging sign...it's not like I expect much out of his career. But a Eugenio Suarez type is possible. I hate this farm. I don't think there are 5 guys that will even make the majors on this list. Arguing 2 through 15 is just for fun at this point
  20. I'd give a case for Urena number 2 if I knew anything about his D. As always BA stays in line with their Draft/International/Previous Rankings unless there is a huge fall (Harris). SRF was only number 10 last year.
  21. The BA list is out TOP 10 PROSPECTS 1. Anthony Alford, of 2. Conner Greene, rhp 3. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., of/3b 4. Richard Urena, ss 5. Sean Reid-Foley, rhp 6. Jon Harris, rhp 7. Rowdy Tellez, 1b 8. Max Pentecost, c 9. Justin Maese, rhp 10. D.J. Davis, of
  22. While it wouldn't be surprising if Shapiro goes back to IMG for this (and I nailed the Angus Mugford hire about 4 months before it happened https://www.linkedin.com/in/angusmugford), I wouldn't have a clue. Mike Lewis was my mentor for my week there...he'd be amazing for a position like this. I wonder if Shapiro will take my calls.
  23. One of the big differences is that someone in the Rogers family would report that signing a starting pitcher before the Winter Meetings was reading the market perfectly "Ninja Move"... in exchange for never appearing on any other media outlet.
  24. top of his list http://mlb.mlb.com/images/4/3/2/111796432/030815_kcalaa_bees_tw_w3ewnpp7.gif
