that's fine...but don't expect everyone to give you a huge payday. He is making a statement now, and he's going to get paid when he is a free agent. But there will be teams that now say "he chose to not go for a championship and used it as a personal negotiation tactic". In turn they will not make him an offer when he is a free agent. Some team that doesn't care will get him for a lower price, but there are still enough teams that care. Look at the number of GM's that talk about "the interview phase" in the free agency market.
