  1. Pillar hasn't been victimized by the standard types of bad luck though. He has a .270 BABIP and doesn't have enough of a power reputation for us to regard his 6.7% HR/FB as aberrational. His O-Swing% is a whopping 42.7% and he's swung through 12.9% of pitches. 40 strikeouts and 4 walks in 151 PA. That's beyond dreadful. For a contact hitter he barely makes any contact and has zero control of the strike zone. Also, he'll be 26 in January. This isn't some 21-year-old who should be allowed time to get his feet wet. He should already be peaking as a Major Leaguer.
  2. If Drake really is friends with all the top basketball players, he's worth his weight in gold to the Raptors.
  3. Edwin just hit a grand slam lol
  4. There was a redemption article in January about Sale lol: http://www.foxsports.com/florida/story/rays-prospect-josh-sale-humbled-by-but-growing-from-past-mistakes-011514 What a meathead.
  5. It seems like his movement is of the two-seam/sink type and not the late cutting type that gets swings and misses. Advanced hitters can track it and they can catch up to any velocity.
  6. It was his day to pitch for Buffalo... he was the right choice for mopup man.
  7. Mariners do a great job all around with their broadcasts.
  8. Get tweeting then! To attain critical mass we need more users.
  9. At the time I posted in this thread that it's tampering Drake is employed by the Raptors and he engaged in recruiting a player under contract to another team. Seems clear cut. The fine is probably good for the Raptors anyway... a national news story is worth something real to the franchise. News of the fine will reach many more people than the initial incident did.
  10. He doesn't make (m)any plays that he's not expected to, but he's a capable Major League shortstop.
  11. Here are some real numbers: There have been 238 balls in Jose Reyes' shortstop zone this season and he's made 179 plays. That means he's converted 75.2% of the total possible plays. Andrelton Simmons (the gold standard of shortstops) has a 77.4% conversion rate. Reyes is about 10 runs worse than average over a 150-game season at shortstop, and by ZiPS is 11.6 runs better than average (among all MLB hitters) with the bat. The positional adjustment at shortstop is about 7.5 runs over a season. He's a better-than-average Major League player.
  12. It's spreading like wildfire! Vdubfan, are you a social media professional?
  13. Great matchups this week: A's-Royals and Yankees-Orioles. Jays just need to take care of their own business.
  14. 6 2 0 0 1 10 5 GO, 1 FO, 82 pitches (51 strikes). 0 XBH. In the bottom of the third he struck out the side in order, all swinging (incl. Nick Franklin), generating seven (!) swinging strikes in that frame alone. It's hard to have a better start than that.
  15. I'm gaining ground on everyone this week Had to sit fifteen quality innings today to preserve my ratios.
  16. DD has a great trade history! I tend to think he's decent overall; you could do a lot worse with old school GMs. Cherington's alright but he's not near Beane-Friedman levels.
  17. Remember, they traded Doug Fister to free up payroll room to sign Joe Nathan lol. They wouldn't have had to acquire Price if they still had Fister.
