On Twitter they are saying get Cease and Vlad their surgeries tonight.  Not April, not November, not Wednesday, tonight!  

Depending what type of surgery they need and recover time might be worth it.

serious surgery - if ball ain't starting until May 2028 get those done.

As long as he's 1000% healthy, then sure.

No surgeon worth his credentials would ever cut someone open without a reason, or before conservative treatment has been tried and failed.

That's just wholely unethical and immoral given the risk of death(however small) from even the most routine surgeries

Seriously, if it comes out after the season that Vlad had some injury and requires surgery…. Just straight up gut the training staff and front office decision-makers.

This team likely makes the playoffs just by putting Vlad on the DL for 3-4 months and acquiring a 1B at the trade deadline.

If whatever is ailing Vlady is effecting his swing then someone has royally messed up, should have been IL'ed.  Makes no sense although he does seem to be swinging with his arms with not a whole lot from the lower body.  His swing looks weird.  so who knows.

C'mon.  No one is saying to literally give someone surgery that doesn't need it. 

They just don't want another Berrios situation.   Or Bowden Francis.  

The decision to get surgery is actually pretty gray in some cases for both TJ and Shoulder surgery.  Some guys, Tanaka I recall have gone years with a partially torn UCL.  

So literally what people are saying, is they just want to organization to make the right call here, IF there is a gray area.   Get surgery now, not June 2027 and have 2 useless seasons.

Cease situation reminds me of Bieber situation.  Bieber is not taking an under-pay for friendship.  Cease is not throwing 92 for no reason.  

In both cases, sure, maybe there is an optimistic outcome.  In the Bieber siutation the reality wasn't that optimistic.  He was injured 4+ months, first basically some undisclosed problem, second a shoulder injury.  55 innings, not elite but not horrible.  Second injury at a horrible time.

The Berrios and Francis situations are exactly what I said, conservative treatment first. There's a standard with which these things are dealt with. You do the imaging, you get the report interpreted by the experts and you do what they recommend first. Full tears of ligaments or detached muscles... yeah, you go to surgery because there's nothing conservative treatment can do in those scenarios. If there's no tear, or it's just a partial tear, conservative treatment is usually the go-to, in the form of platelet rich plasma injections and PT, and it works a decent amount of time. 

Of course there's gray area. In the absence of full tears where the treatment/surgery course is obvious, there is nothing BUT gray area.
