You either get lucky and the hits fall in and you tack on runs and rattle him, or you don't and he throws a complete game 

No other game plan makes sense though 

You can work him for walks if you have the lineup to do it. We had the lineup last year, a bit tougher now. I think we'll need a couple of walks, maybe a bunt here and there and at some point somebody's got to deliver a key hit.

Edit: if we need six runs to win, we might as well forfeit now. We need our bullpen to hold them.

But no one else has the ability to put up 150 wRC+ and thats the ability this team would need to sustain this run.  Doubt it was gonna happen but our playoff hopes are tied to that unless Springer AND Kirk get hot.

I am aware of his numbers, the point remains a lineup that can work walks can work walks against anybody. We will need a couple of walks to have a chance to score I think.

I think there could be a little bit of a silver lining that this could allow Vlad to heal up some aches and pains. I just hope it's not a severe concussion and takes him out longer term.

I think that's overly simplifying it. 

They have guys that are supposed to hit for power. One guy is a head case franchise player. Another guy got too old. Another guy is always hurt, and our young slugger threw out his arm.

They hit for a ton of slug last year and they hit for contact. You can do both. It's just that all the slug guys have, for one reason or another, not been there.
